any pics could you please post thinking of buying this game! and is it better than dod cus i play dod source loads!

It's much better than DoD:S IMO. However, the fact you like DoD:S means you may or may not like ROOST. The weapons are comparable of course but the game style is more like BF2. However, the pace is much slower than BF2.

Anyone still playing RO, or has the novelty worn off?

If anyone wants an IP of a UK server then ours is 85.236.101.70 default port.

If the server is passworded dont worry we've probably got a match/praccy/event.

There are normally fullmj guys on it during the evenings and as a result its well admin'ed.

Hopefully cya soon

I'm still playing it, out of my limited game playing time available it certainly gets the lion share. Sometime I do wish that there was an eject button to get rid of bad gunners in tanks though... :D

I'll check your server out :)

sorry to ressurect this thread but i'd thought i'd mention that RO is now availible to buy in the shops, got mine yesterday, only came with 1 of 2 CD's  , but i just popped the CDkey into steam and downloaded it, had a quick go of it earlier must say, i really like it :)

took a siper rifle on the snowy airfeild map, stalked around and found myself a nice position and sat there and pick some people off, what gave me the rush was how atmospheric it felt i really felt like i was alone, it felt like every shot count, like i was really in danger, i felt so immersed.
i've never had a shooter game feel like this before, i am very impressed with my initial experiences.

well i just bought and will take it back, had to delete steam files to get it to run and the load times are awfull my old beeb loads quicker from tapes :( sry seems like a poor mans op flashpoint. It goes back and i get me a credit note until allied assualt get released

aye I got to agree, wish I could get my money back :(

What didn't you like about it? Agreed it has a high learning curve, but once you get used to it it's far more rewarding than the run of the mill spray em ups available atm. Stick with it and you will get better eventually.

Possibly one of the worst games on steam right now.

One of the best FPS's i've ever played tbh. None of the arcadey fast paced nonsense and next to no kids. It's realism based and has a fairly high learning curve so that's what makes most the kids dislike it. Perfect.

Easily the most atmospheric multiplayer FPS i've played and much better attention to detail than say BF2.

I totally agree, its packed full of gritty realism and the attention to detail is excellent.

I have this through steam and used to play the ut2k4 mod version now and again. The mod version was really going nowhere imo, had maybe 150-200 players at most when new updates came out. I think the same thing will happen with the steam version where after a while people will just start to drift away from it again.

It is a good game but with everything (well most things) being realism orientated its never gonna have a really big fanbase. Id really like to know why the tiger tank is next to useless in the game, regular panzers seem to take more hits than a tiger, using a tigers like being in a moving coffin as it seems to be taken out with ease from any angle for whatever reason.

There's no way a panzer will take more hits than a tiger at whatever angle, a panther maybe can because of the sloped armour, but if you angle so you're at 45 degrees to the guy shooting you a lot of the shells will be deflected. They also fixed the penetration system in the last patch and increased the tigers cannon power so you will get more 1 shot kills post patch.

Generally though I prefer the infantry maps anyway. I love the bolt action in this game especially with bayonet :)
