Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

tyhey need to clear up cammder and artillary thing and flag cap thing and it will be good.Ienjoy the long range ptient shooting its just im rubbish in tanks. Is there even a voice comm chan jus for each tank?

I think the open maps are good for tank fighting but you need a good crew that works together for it to be any fun, also the lack of 3rd person view in the tank makes it quite hard to get to grips with at first.

Really enjoy the city maps though.

It would be nice if you could have more than 6 a side in practice mode.

***, those graphics look mint, whats everyone moaning about :p , *pulls credit card out ready to order* , but can anyone confirm first, is it better or worse than the free unreal red orchestra mod, or same.

I'd guess that they had the settings put up high in those screenshots. At default it does look quite poor and you can really tell the difference when AA/AF is on. Personally I'm using 4x/8x.

Yeah it's highest settings with 4x/8x.

You can. Click practice, then to Game Rules tab up the top, then click on Bot Mode, and use Specify Number, you can change the number of bots on the right hand side. to 32 maximum, but you wont be able to play if there are 32 i think

Been playing it quite a lot today, I find the more you play it the more you like it :P

Fun game once you get into it!

Still not been able to get my hands on the sniper rifle tho :(

Tbh.. if you got good eyesight you dont need a sniper :p but i do love the semi auto russian sniper. Awesome gun for taking down hordes of foot soldiers.

My copy has stopped working alltogether :(
Get some precondition error or some such thing and I have tried all the fix's suggested on the steam support site. I even deleted all my Red Orchestra files out of the Steamapps and downloaded the lot again (2GB). Exactly the same problem again
Looking around I think it might be a problem with Norton AntiVirus, I tried stopping the services but this didn't work, so might try uninstalling it and see what happens.

Well, I didn't know that RO had such a following on the OCUK boards. Ive been palying RO right back since it first came out in 2003 as b1.0, a mod for UT2K3. The game has been nothing but awesome ever since, finally fulfilling my craving for an authentic and realistic WW2 FPS, with the added bonus of representing the lesser-seen Eastern Front warfare - most games are too busy giving us Americans vs. Germans @ Omaha beach it seems.

Ostfront 41-45 is well worth the money and has built on it's strong mod background. It now incorporates immersive and gritty infantry play, as well as a pretty comprehensive section of gameplay devoted to tanks - serisouly, it's not far short of a simulation of tank combat.

It's getting a lot of heat thrown at it right now, for so called "poor graphics" - people came along expecting F.E.A.R. type graphics, forgetting that the Unreal 2.5 engine is almost 2 years old. They cant see that what the game lacks in graphics (Which is, in my opinion, nothing - the game still looks utterly amazing) it makes up for in masses of detail, realism, authenticity and most of all, gameplay. Hopefully, once that lot sod off back to playing the latest graphically-amazing but shallower games, the criticisms will die down.

Keep an eye out for me on the servers, I play as [o]Conscript...Ill try and keep an eye open for fellow OCUKers :)

The graphics are not "that" bad... I too have been playing it (on and off) since the Ut2k3 mod days. I find it one of the most satisfying online games that I have played. [Images all reduced from 1600x1200 to 800x600 jpgs, click for full sized png]:

Anyone played as the MG42? Am I doing anything wrong? As I use short 1-2 second burts, but my god!! I am out of ammo almost straight away, you only get 200 rounds with it, which is a bit odd, is there anyway to resupply them? or do you actually have to trudge back to a resupply point? If so that is a bit stupid really.
