Redundancy....

**** sorry to hear that mate :( Best thing to do shortly before you finish or even around this time go to your local Job Centre & explain your situation and they will sort you out with Job Seekers Allowance for when you finish your job. Its not a lot of money (around £48 a week) But its a start for looking for new work.

Good luck,

Liam

Good luck dude.

Remember though, it is your job that is being made redundant - not you as a person.

*edit* your post wasn't there when I replied.... really sorry to hear that :(

Tell them this during your meeting, might change their minds.

Exactly. Assuming his wages aren't 55,000+ K plus then they will be saving money to keep him on.

Go in there with a game face, with a brief over view of what you have been working on (and also secure any files on your PC with a delete code so that no one can carry on your work if they force you to leave still :D:D)

Just don't tell them how near completion it is otherwise they might make you finish it before you leave (Depending on how long 5% of the project takes that is). Either that or they'll get you to handover/train someone how to do it in your absence.

I could be wrong, but i would imagine the decision has already been made when the meeting happens. Last minute changes or statements are not going to change anything.

In fact, iirc, guidelines state that when making someone redundant, its as business like as possible. Managment wont rise to anything, and will just defer you to HR.

Sorry to hear about your redundancy, look at it as an opportunity to move on or up hopefully if you have the skills and qualifications.

At least you will have 2 weeks more work and pay in which you can look for work and make arrangements. Afterwards some redundancy money as the company is still going which will be quite nice if you get a new job soon.

When I lost my job I was escorted out straight away, and this was the first day back after Christmas. I had no redundancy either as the company was being shut down by the revenue and went into a ceased trading state. So far it is still going on, we have had the tribunal and got awarded the money but we cannot claim it from the company as there is no money, so we have to wait for the company to be properly wound up before getting a just the redundancy (not notice/holiday/missing pay due) back.

Sorry to hear it mate,

I know the feeling (king of) when I wasnt kept on after my 3 month trial ended at Argos, felt crap for a few days but I got over it.

Now working at Ikea with better pay and a more preffered job,

Just move on and keep on the look out for a decent job.
