Redurb'd Nvidia GTX570 problems

Congrats on the baby girl mate, You wont have time for gaming! :)

im not convinced that this is a hardware problem tbh mate, but the noise could be faulty vrm`s maybe?

Thanks dude!

Its my second....you would think i'd learn....lol.

Gibbo posted that we could return them if we werent happy as they are non-reference as was expected. Jury is still out here if i like the cooling solution on this one. So I guess i dont need to RMA it to get my money back.

If it just performed as i had hoped it would, it may sway my decision....but if its being arsey it can go back

J

Thats the difference with me chap, my games dont run fine......I have noticed little or no difference in Crysis 2 at the same settings and the same stuttering/crackling seems to be happening

J

I'm fairly sure your card is duff matey, crackling & electronics has never been a good sign in my experience.

I'd still opt for another - a mate of mine has just grabbed a second 9600GT (for under £35!) he's an SLI owner now for a bargain price. It works great.

Equally, some poor sod will have a duff one, luck of the draw alas.

:)

Jin,

Furmark puts a huge amount of stress on the card (it basically loads every shader with mathmatical instructions from what i can tell) and it seems nvidia throttle internally when this is detected.

Im not saying there isnt a problem, but i dont think furmark is a good indicator for our cards

it may well do that

but it wouldn't stutter like that

seems like either your PCI-E width is set to 1x (possible) - check CPU-Z just in case it'll tell you - or the GFX card is fubar

edit - interestingly somethings going on -0 just took another look at video

and load keeps osciallting between 99% and 89%

could be a power issue ? or perhaps faulty power management on the card itself ?

re: the power issue.......just banged in a 700w OCZ PS as i thought my tagan wasnt up to it.

made no difference

:(

aah well.....looks like the card/psu are going back and i will stick with my gtx275 till i can afford a complete overhaul.

Ooooh, suspicions..... ;)

I have asked my mate to fire it back to me for a bit as he is only building his rig and hasnt got everything he needs.

Glad now i only sold it to a friend and didnt use the bay.

For those folks that keep on mentioning Furmark. Can I just mention / remind people that I believe all the 5*** series Nvidia cards throttle themselves when they detect stress testing programs like Furmark/OCCT/kompuster. So they are no longer an accurate way to stress your card for max. temps!

As an example ... my card though being 99% utilised, only hits about 55C in Furmark. But in games and things like 3Dmark11 it's more like 68C.

Another possible broken 570GTX refurb here:mad:

I bought mine to replace a broken 8800GTX.
Within 30secs of playing New Vegas I had a black screen, sound loop and had to hard reboot.
NV is now unplayable for black screening. (It had never crashed once with my old card)
I've also had it black screen with Darksiders. CoD-MW and even 3dmark06.
I've tried 3 different drivers all on clean installs.
I've exchanged a PSU for a 700w version.
The black screen only ccurs in 3d applications.

Does this sound like a hardware or software issue??
Since my old card died I've had nothing but trouble!!

I've lost faith in my 'refurb' and im going to try and exchange it.

Ach, all very disappointing this......I was hoping to have a loveley wee updated system for BF3.

Instead.....Ill just be buying nappies :)

J

Why not just get a brand new 6950 2gb with the refund. Almost as fast and you will be getting a brand new card. Bf3 is also rumoured to be running better on amd hardware atm also.

still shouldn't judder like that though !!

Mine in SLI do exactly the same, yet mine are fine in all games I play. I think its the throttle thats down clocking the card internally, hence the judder.

You can over ride the over votage protection, but then you will have melted 570`s!

I wouldn't want the possibility of receiving a very hot running part of my PC that has possibly been ran at stupidly overclocked speeds for three months before it blew off, one the memory chips.

That chips been replaced and the card now runs happily at stock speeds.

Next year you might want to squeeze that little bit extra out of it and take your pick out of what's going to blow. All because the previous owner stressed the life out of the card.

It shines badly on OCUK even selling used parts be it refurb or not.A refurb is a ticking time bomb if you ask me.

DSR and have some peace of mind.

I rang up to return mine and am getting a refund.
Can't complain at that.
I thought the idea of a refub was good and I'd get value for money and none of the rubbish and junk packaged with graffy cards these days. The reality is as mentioned. A card you have no idea of the history of, that has been repaired for a fault and flogged on. Im sure the vast majority will be entirely fit for purpose but obviously some duff cards are getting through the net.
Lesson learnt. I was just trying to save a few quid, im going to have to put a few more quid towards a nice shiny new card complete with junk and huge box!
Don't think I'll ever get another refurb though. Seems to be far to many people having issues.

Mine is also suffering from the black screen problem, what exactly did you say to customer services?, I feel I could be taking the same path.

I stated I had black screen + soundloop in all games within 5secs to 10 min with soundloop and reboot. And this only occurred in 3d applications.

Said I wasn't happy with another refurb (they're out of stock btw) and wanted a brand new card. Chappy said they don't exchange but will refund and then im free to buy another card. didn't even ask any questions giving me the feeling OCUK have shifted a load of old tosh out the door and maybe expected returns???......
email with RMA within 30 seconds and I was down the post office within the hour!!
I cannot find refund info on the website though so have no idea what happens about postage fees??
It's cost £15 to ferry a piece of crap around the country and I personally don't like paying for that.
Do OCUK refund postage? A discount off a new card might stop me going elsewhere.......
