Refusal to buy games because its not on steam

Again you're all missing out on some great games just for being narrow minded. I can remember the anger and aggro when Steam first launched and then if you bought HL2 you HAD to create a Steam account to use it. Seriously guys, stop. Giving Gabe all your money or missing out on other great games just because you 'like Steam' is depriving yourself and yourself only.

Just realize - everybody who refuses to buy a game anywhere else except Steam. You are ruining the ability for developers to argue a better cut for their product. Steam is super dominant and Valve could easily afford to cut their take by a good margin and still make a ridiculous amount of money, but they of course wont do that, because why would they when they have no competition?

I only buy via steam for the sake of consolidation, and if it aint on there i cba going through the rigmarole of filling out my details to buy it.

The only non-steam games i have are all freebies via origin

Makes little sense to me. So when Steam is down, you'd rather not play anything?

Er, they fixed that years ago? Whenever my internet has failed, I've not had a problem playing games.

Must admit I like to keep my gaming PC free of bloat so I only have the absolute minimum installed apart from games. I run everything else I need in a VM to keep it clean. I don't want tonnes of different market place clients.

I haven't bothered reinstalling Origin since I did an OS refresh (doubt I'll play ME3 again). Can't be bothered with UbiSoft purely on principle thanks to their history of draconian DRM policies.

I really like the look of Farcry Primal, however with it being availbale only via uplay I will not buy it.

Anybody else feel the same? I only buy games that are available on steam. uplay is rubbish and origin is not quite as bad, but i would rather not buy games that are not on steam.

Yep. Pretty much ignore anything that isn't on Steam these days - and in all honesty, there's very little worth buying which isn't on Steam, or that I can't buy digitally for the xbox one.

I'm not saying I prefer to buy via steam, I check all the cd key sites for the deals, but i want a key that is redeemed via steam.

All of you thinking that I mean I BUY via steam are missing the point. Farcry Primal CD keys for sale on the variouis cd key sites are all uplay, not steam redeemable.

A big part of playing on steam is the chat overlay, I always chat to 2-3 friends when online and I use steam to do that. If I'm playing a uplay game it doesnt work - some chortcut games can work, but some 100% do not work.

I buy the games I want to play and at the cheapest price I can find. I click an icon on the desktop to launch so makes sod all difference to me which launcher I have to close down afterwards.

No. It's a daft viewpoint, frankly.

I really dont care what platform a game is on,as long as its decently priced...i usually buy a CD key from elsewhere though, those platforms ask way too much usually.

Games are going down the pan big time anyway lately,

Too many "Early alpha" games that charge full price to play,Hardly any demos now..DLC DLC DLC... zzzzzz

I wont use anything EA or Ubisoft any more. I hate the two companies with a passion! EA has destroyed Battlefield for me and Ubisoft are just scumbags with their ethics and how some of their games are just the same old rehashed concepts, last game I brought from them was Far Cry 3 which I enjoyed.
Not for me im afraid, I'm not fussed however as neither company has games which I want to play.

Given the choice, I will always purchase a game for Steam. However, if it's not available via Steam I will use whatever client I have to. Steam is the only client I keep running all the time though.

The only exception I would make to this is the God awful Windows 10 store. I won't be purchasing Quantum Break or anything else that is installed via the Windows 10 store in the near foreseeable future.

We all thought Steam was intrusive and crap when it first came out. I prefer Steam but I'm happy to use Origin and Uplay when a decent game comes along. They're both not as bad as they were.

I prefer steam but will buy games on origin if I like them,,,also use key sites with keys for steam or origin,,,not to fussed really :) not going to bother with uplay I doubt as not many games I like on there anyway

GTA V I have avoided because all the reseller CD key sites only sell the key for rockstar social club thingy. No! no! NO!

As for buying the games, I will buy via cd key sites 99% of time, but only if steam activated.

Someone else has probably already mentioned this but FYI the Rockstar Social Club will run in the background regardless of which client you use to manage the game. It's built into it and is a part of the multiplayer.

OK everyone is on about the W10 store and games, I haven't used it yet as nothing I want is on there however people are talking about absurd issues or game issues people mention with no further information?

I haven't had any reason to use it but with quantum leap coming out a store only exclusive I would like to play what are these issues?

I'm unfamiliar with uPlay on Windows. How does that work? Where does the game download from? Steam or uPlay?

Game downloads from uplay and to a uplay account either way. Basically clicking play in steam will open the uplay client which in turn will launch the game.
