My son (6) seems to be getting indoctrinated on Christinatiy at school. With the Spinnaker christian group coming in and seemly running the RE lessons stating their beliefs as fact. I'm an atheist, but happy for him to hear about all religions as I think it's important to know about them. Due to this I wanted to know if there are any non-christian religous groups that do school visits which could help broaden the schools RE lessons.

Withdraw your child from any school / religious institutes lessons of a religious nature and teach religion to him yourself at home.

There's no such thing as state funded or private RE lessons which don't use indoctrination / stating religious beliefs as facts as their core approach to teaching religion, and don't ruin your Childs education by listening to clueless liberals / apologists who think that the RE lessons are fine.

Just about all RE lessons are taught by hardcore theists in every school. The idea that they do anything to promote tolerance and respect among children of different religions is BS, the only purpose they serve is to reinforce indoctrination and forceful teaching of religion to every child in the country, and all because parents are too lazy to bother to teach any belief based mythologies and fairy tales to their children themselves.

My RME classes were taught by two self confessed agnostics, and we weren't in any way told that one religion was correct over another.
We were simply taught about all the major religions and urged to question them, and other belief systems.
To suggest that all RME classes are biased towards one religion is nonsense and ignorant.

As for the OP, I'd speak to the school and urge greater scope in lessons.

My RE lessons were taught by a Christian, and most of the curriculum was on Christianity based topics, but we spend a few weeks on Buddhism as well. He also used a lot of Star Wars analogies, so it was all pretty cool.

Are we really a country that does not believe in the God of the Bible anymore and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?
So sad, though this is prophesied, that people will be Godless near the end.

See, even now the religious folks cannot say this without throwing in the old guilt vibe

Same here, but we did some spend time on most of the other major religions.

With regards to the school, you should speak to them about the possibility of getting some people of different faiths to visit the school.

all they seem to push at my kids school is islam :( they had them making pray mats last year and now its back to mohamed again this year, why?

Spinnaker are not normally so evangelical. I wouldn't worry about your 6 year old being indoctrinated as it is unlikely that any religious indoctrination would be effective in such a short teaching period or with the child having access to other ideas, obviously he lives the majority of his time in an atheist household and in school only a very small amount of time will be dedicated to RE, even less to a group such as Spinnaker and the RE lessons would have to conform to the National Curriculum and therefore teach a range of religions of which the presentations from Spinnaker would form only part. In a CofE or Catholic school the emphasis will be on Christianity, but overall I do not think you have very much to worry about. Any normal 6 year old will be more interested in Ironman than Jesus I can assure you...:)

Not trying to turn this into a joke topic or anything, but many christian groups believe Pokemon to be satanic so you know...

Stuff like this is why atheism is starting to look fanatical.
Basic logic. Every child MUST have RE lessons. Just about all RE lessons are taught by hardcore theists indoctrinating children. That would mean Just about all children are indoctrinated.

And yet religion in general is falling in the UK.

Yes, a thousend times yes. The sooner we get rid of that hatefilled, jealus, violent deity the better.

giving I live in a small town in east Anglia, lol Christian there are minimal Muslims round these parts.

It is the fastest growing religion in the UK though. Kids should understand it.

When I was at school it was a mixture of Christianity (not odd, one of my schools was catholic) and Buddhism.

I was surprised when I found out the Steiner Free school my kids were going to had a specific Christianity only policy (kids are 6 and 5). Not only this but all children who attended HAD to have RE as a lesson! As I was brought up with in a Jehovah's Witness Family and my Kids mum was Brought Up a devout Muslim you can imagine how fast they got pulled from that school!

Don't get me wrong, I want my children to have understandings of religion nut not just one I want them to have a wide view from all angles not just the narrow minded view of one faith.
