Religious School Visits

So what is he going to be doing?

No he will not be coming in Peace when he returns that is true, regarding the other two quotes there. That is talking of his return though and not the example he gave us on earth.

According to the Revelation section of the New Testament, the Earth is absolutely doomed when Jesus returns.

If Jesus exists, then so does the Devil. Be pretty ironic if this Bible stuff is real, Jesus comes back to kill everyone and Lucifer, Dante and Virgil all pop up like lol no and run his ass down.

I certainly did :D

Makes it better than he pretty much looks like a yoked Jesus. :D

One thing I hate about RE - It focuses only on very little of each religion and gives a skewed view on the scriptures and content written within them based on each individual teacher's bias. People want all religions to be taught in schools, yet finding a free universally accepted translation of the Koran, or any texts of any religion other than Christianity are impossibly hard to do. The Bible is easy to obtain for free, and anyone who is interested in learning religion could simply read one.

Instead of RE, why not provide every child an opportunity if they want it to actually read the holy books of each religion? I would have much preferred to have done that. This way clever kids will get to actually see how much BS each religion is and laugh over the complete tripe written within the holy books, and they dont have to endure being taught the topics by someone who is misrepresenting any of the religions.

I have read plenty of people on several 'Muslim apostate' forums claim that providing people in the west with a koran to read would simply be the best way to turn them away from Islam. I strongly suspect that this is what all religious people other than Christians fear the most, so they dont make their texts easily accessible to the public.

In all my hours spent sleeping in R.E. I never once heard about how much war and suffering 'religion' has caused. Crusades are a shining example. Totally with you that R.E. is pointless drivel that should be an optional after school thingy ma bob.

I remember I said once here that drama would be a more better subject to learn as compulsory than RE.

'But ZOMG I hate drama! Its a rubbish waste of time subject and I'd never want to do it, wah wah wah wah wah'.

Oh, so you dont care that 90% of kids feel the same way about RE and dont want to waste time doing that either.

Even an hour of dance, or wait - video game studies would be better.

Ok, scrap all of the above ideas, replace RE with 1 hour of computer programming classes for all students. Some European countries now teach computer programming as compulsory in schools, but in the UK religion is more important.

Another great thing would be another hour of music per week - for music technology / production. Spend an hour every week playing with Pro tools and making simple cheesy pop / dance music. Fun!

I feel the exact same.

So what is he going to be doing?

I can't beat EDDS's answer for comedy, though for the truth read Mat 13:37-42.

The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;.....And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth

t.b.h. I do not know what he will be doing, though apparently we get a period of one thousand years of peace on earth afterwards. Rev 20:4

Could teach some advanced IT like Photoshop, Final cut etc. for those who might end up in College doing something similar. That'd be useful, either that or increase PE.

If you or your kids want to have an insight into other religions, do it out of their normal gathering hours. Visit a place of worship whatever it may be and ask the leader, (for want of a more appropriate title) to show you around and briefly explain the custom, traditions and history behind their religion. Some of these places of worship have many interesting things to see apart from the hard-line sermons to the masses. You dont need to be religious to appreciate some of the art and sculptures you will see.

Then go home and hit the **** out of Sleeping Dogs.

Hatefilled? Violent?

According to your own bible, yes. I urge everyone to read all of the Christian bible. It's a real eye-opener.

Let's concentrate on Jesus, Gods son, who came to earth, healed and helped all people (Including ones the Jews would not associate with.) and went to his death on the cross. Even admonishing people who wanted to fight for him to prevent this.
To put it one way, he never harmed a fly and did only good.

And that was so different to the rest of the religion that some people concluded that it was a different god. Which was, of course, heresy to be punished with death from the rulers of your harmless religion of love.

It looks fine if you concentrate on only the nice parts, ignoring huge swathes of both theory and practice. Which, admittedly, a lot of Christians do.

No need to increase PE, we already had 2 hours of that per week and most schools will run sports classes after school.

Actually regular IT should be beefed up from the dos subject it currently is to include the more advanced stuff like you mention, and Music which is currently way too pointless and includes too much theory and pointless talking should have Pro Tools + music production stuff added to it.

I think that the only way to properly learn music production is a Music Tech Btec / HND, and most people are obviously not going to do those, so to add production to Music classes around age 12+ would help introduce teens to something technical, fun and rewarding.

Just how computer programming is way too inaccessible until A levels for most students, and too many schools dont even run Computing and just do ICT instead. In my 6th form I took ICT AS, but in the first week the lecturer asked us if we wanted to do ICT or Computing and 100% of the class wanted computing lol. Unfortunately I turned out to be too rubbish at maths and programming, but I could have done Music Tech really well instead :(

I don't get what you mean?

How is what I stated, throwing in the old guilt vibe?

He even gave new instuctions on the old way of an eye for eye, a life for a life thing. He taught us to love our enemies, to forgive and to turn the other cheek. Something that is not naturally in our nature to do and requires help from God to acheive. I have failed in this like our nation.

Lolpreach & lolstories

I suppose I am not sure about religeon being taught in school is good, though surely if the knowledge taught is unbiased and for the right reason, (i.e. To share some of the history of Gods involvement in this planet.) then it can be nothing but good, though this is difficult for any individual to do. Call it animalistic, tribal nature, we all want to be the top dog religeon.
Stopping belief/teaching all religeous ideals maybe one way to solve that, though frankly that is not ever going to happen worldwide and only opens us up for being enslaved/ruled/abused by TPTB even easier.
Is not science finding more and more evidence of a creator over evolution, though you hardly ever hear of people not happy about their children being taught that theory as if it were fact.
Though I doubt I will stop entirely, as if you had been helped out of such a miserable position as I had, you would want to share that too. I like this anology I heard once, if you knew of a giant everlasting chocolate cake and had tasted it yourself and found it to be amazing. Surely you would want to share it whereabouts with others.

Oddly, I feel like Atheist's are the best at teaching RE.

Due to their own beliefs, I tended to find they were best at distancing themselves from the subject and teaching it in an even and fair manner. I always found that people with religious believes themselves seemed to want to push one area in particular (not all, but certainly seemed more common)...
