Remembering dreams/waking up from dreams...

Lucid dreaming is quite an amazing ability!

I used to be able to do it when I was about 10-11. (I didn't teach myself, it just happened) I've lost it now though, I cant even remember them anymore. :(

Being able to control nightmares RAWKS!

I've have quite regular lucid dreams. One of the earliest i remember was a little odd as i recall first realising i was in a dream and then deciding to look very closely at objects. I remember going right up to a wall and looking at it in detail - all the bumps and grain were all there, exactly like you would imagine a wall to be. Obviously I've 'advanced' from that now.

I've also had pretty 'epic' dreams - alien invasions: being in my home town and looking up in to the sky and seeing MASSIVE alien spaceships hovering overhead and people starting to panic. Very much like Independence Day but much the ships were much more surreal in their design and movements. Damn exciting!

Also, when things are going to well in dreams I remember telling people that we were just in one of my dreams and not to worry - that'll i'll wake up soon.

Well tried to remember and since the 25th, I've remembered 6 dreams (I keep waking up in the middle of the night after them though which is a bit annoying).

One of them was very real, and frustrating. It basically involved a girl I like a lot, and us getting together. Seemed so lifelike, I didn't realise it was a dream, even when I woke up, until I thought about it.

You REM sleep about every 90 minutes, so it's good that you wake up just after.
Once you start dreaming the next, your brain usually wipes the first "slate" clean.

I remember one from ages ago where I nearly cried(;)) after realising it was a dream. I thought I'd won the lottery.. jumped out of bed (literally) to go mess around with expensive stuff.. then it dawned on me.

ah i would love to be able to lucid dream, sounds fun :p lol

i think i may have had 1 or 2 when i was very little, i could control it but i thought it was real, my parents told me it wasn't though. that was about 15 years ago though lol.
i havn't remembered a dream i've had in years

Claudia Schiffer, Claire Danes and Carla Bruni..

Seriously though, I had a repeating dream when I was at school. It was almost like having in interactive film/MMORPG. Dungeons and Dragons with Teirmat and everything.. Always started off by my view point flying down into a disused abbey.

I remember a few details even now - parting water with a book and then using the book as a portal to get through a minute space then through a earthy crack in the ground.

I had the same dream continue on several nights over a period of a few months..

Me thinks I may have to try this!

I ocasionally realise I'm dreaming but taking control's a lot more rare. I often do really strange stuff in dreams but it usually doesn't occur to me that I'm dreaming.

Being able to fly by keeping kicking after jumping was a cool one recently. Breathing underwater's another one that's quite fun.

Wouldnt be a good idea for me to try having lucid dreams tbh. Nearly every night i have pretty appalling dreams that i can remember kinda vividly and they really scare the absolute ***** out of me, and from the bad experiences people have had, i kinda like knowing that ill wake up the next morning and the dream will have been just a dream, a nothing to bother myself about. The fact that i would be kinda awake inside this would make it real and freak me right out.

But once you realise it's a dream, that's the whole point... nothing can hurt you.

One old one was some rabid dogs chasing me, they just turned to butterflies when I realised they couldn't hurt.

I did however have one recurring one, for years..
I think this is where I learnt, when I was kid.
I used to dream I could fly, but occasionally I couldn't take off (all I had to do normally, was take a superman style leap) I'd jump but I'd land flat on my face, I persevered over and over (like you do when you are little I guess) with it and eventually could control it, somewhere between now and then I realised it was all dreams too.

similar to deko really, the only ones i remember are lucid ones but they are never about anything nice, usually full of gore or horribleness and "messed up" stuff and i wake up sweating or flailing about silently. cant sleep after as even if i wake up i continue from where i was even after 10 minutes just sitting up awake. whole story's can run through with these things.

lot of messed up things that happen for up to several hours and i get no sleep. wake up next day and wont remember them just a vauge feeling of "urgh". its either that or nothing and i dont remember a thing.
it only happens at night but i also get myself worked up into a large tizzy about dying and cant sleep for most of the night, just panicing and imaging being dead, i get that once every 2 months probably. cant sleep no matter what.

all pretty bad in a guy that can sleep 12+ hours if left to himself lol. it hits me hard and i spend about 2 weeks trying to catch up.
also highly hallucinogenic/3D ones from when ive tried to sleep under a influence, a 3D ghost thing is pretty common along with talking to people in my sleep and thinking they are really there. 3D face's of people i know in front of me and talking out loud to them.

That sounds familiar, almost too familiar to be honest.
A " large tizzy" is somewhat of an understatement for me though. (not that anyone has ever seen it) but lets just say the pillow is good at stifling screams !!
Although that one is nothing to do with sleep, just the simple fact that one day I WILL BE DEAD and there's not a god dam thing I can do about it.
If I start thinking about it it really screws me up good and proper. I just can't face dying, AT ALL, EVER....

What I refuse to do though is "turn to god" like some of my family after a close brush with death because of health problems.
To me that's just a cop out.. Born again Christian my arse.. anyway, going off on a rant now so I best shut up.

Lucid dreaming is fascinating and I've been getting better at remembering dreams lately, I'm gonna have to start thinking "I WILL LUCID DREAM!" before I go to bed now. :D

I am usually aware of when I'm dreaming, not always though. I've not quite got to the stage of being able to control mine fully, quite often, I'll want to do something and I just won't be able to do it which is frustrating. However, when it happens it's awesome, a lot like Peter Patrelli!

i once was dreaming i said to my self , i must be alseep
then i was forced to wake up
perhaps i broke the dream world rules?

1 dream i had this week was , i like woken up but woken up in the dream making me think i was properly awake then went back to sleep in the dream and sort of double dreamed lol it was crazy ,

1 time in a dream i notcied something in my room was out of place thats how i knew i was dreaming , but wasnt able to freely move after that

A treatment for servere nightmares is actually learning to lucid dream. People can also use Lucid dreaming to overcome fobias.

If i read that right, thats what you call a false awakening. You dream yourself waking up, it can often trick you so good that you will get up and start getting ready for work/school :p
