It's nice to look at post count now and again and think, "wow, I've spent how much of my life posting on here!?!?!?!?!", but I hardly post for post count, as has already been said, hardly anyone probably does. Maybe some people who want to get access to the MM do though.

How do you buy PCs in an auction??? , forgive me for being dumb on this.

there were two occasions where, before you joined the forum, members were able to donate part or all of their postcount to the pool, which was then bid on for charity.

people donated quite a bit more than a million posts, if i remember rightly, so the dons split the winnings up into about 10,000 posts each.

i myself donated some three thousand posts in total, if i remember correctly.

I donated about 2,000 I think.

Personaly I just want a Christopher Walken Avatar. But I'm trying not to spam along the way.

It's not a bad idea to have some more auctions, perhaps we could go in reverse whereby the members that have been around for a while, have the lowest post counts since it doesn't really make a difference :p

I can start, I donate 5,000 of my posts :)

I've posted on a few forums with no post count - and it didn't make me post any more constructively... In fact, I think it probably made "forthewin" and "lul" posts even more common :p

I think if you got rid of "+1" another phrase or expression would take it's place and I havn't really got an issue as what has already been said it's a good way of showing you share the oppinion but perhaps if people posted a little more as to why after it, it would not be seen as a pointless post?

How about creating a FB-esque "likes this" tag for posts, so people who +1 it can just "like", making it instantly indicative of number of agreements?

Bet that would make many harp for the good old days of +1 :p

Whats wrong with writing +1 anyways? Its the easiest way to show that you agree with someone's point is it not? Only someone like Drunkenmaster would be bothered to type something longer that meant the same :p

But then I'd be tempted to make posts like:

"Wow that new iPad looks awesome!, LOL jk it's a giant iPhone :p"
Or
"That's definitely the most beautiful girl in the world, LOL jk she ugly" :D

+1

Oh wait! :p

Seriously, I don't pay any attention to post count and I think removing it would make little difference.
I don't think most people do either, so you're exactly right.

Please don't remove my post count, it's all I have in this world along with my chess rating.

I think you're out by a factor of 10 regarding the winnings as I seem to recall the winners each got over 100,000 posts but other than that spot on.

Thanks, that clears that up. How much did everyone raise?
