I always read it as a shorthand version of "I wholeheartedly agree with what you say and rather than repeat it in my own inimitable style I will instead endorse your previous reply with my approval by way of a shorthand '+1' :p
+1

ps3ud0

Aslong as a post count doesn't go on a CV then there really is no point. If I'm interested in a thread I take all posts into consideration, not just ones with people with high post counts.

I think post counts show what occupation you have to an extent. I bet the majority of high posters work in IT or are unemployed ;)

Also, i think PPD is more accurate to read activity than total posts.

Doesn't really bother me either way, post count or people doing +1.

Athough I quite often start typing a reply then think to myself; god that is a pointless response, and don't bother posting it.

edit: kind of like this post really, the world could have quite happily gone on without it :p

Where's the poll option for "Too scared to vote lest a Don decide all people giving the answer I chose can have their postcount zeroed for the lulz"? :(

:p

I think I'd be 110k+ now. That's after slowing down.

I lost track after you reached about 90k I think which was around when you changed your post count however in the time between then and now you're probably right, 20k posts wouldn't take you too long.

I've voted don't care on the poll but as I mentioned at the start I think it would work very well for MM if they were removed.

I'm not too fussed about it, I've sold all mine off for one of the charity auctions before. It does add to the usefulness/reliability measure of a user though, gives you a rough posts/day or /year measure.
