Im just posting here now to read my post count i don't even know what it is but i will soon.

I would keep it, it usually helps to identify better posters and that commands more respect when telling them they are wrong and should go touch themselves etc.

You're wrong. Go and touch yourself.

Most people do spam replies, because it is an internet fad, not due to post count. TBH couldn't careless about post counts. Although they are used for MM, which was a very good idea.

Removing post counts may work but as you know OP this won't happen!!

Time since member and activity could determine access to MM - Perhaps "You must be active in the last 90 days to keep MM access and be a member for 3-6months at least"

/Shrug

Oh and +1

I always read it as a shorthand version of "I wholeheartedly agree with what you say and rather than repeat it in my own inimitable style I will instead endorse your previous reply with my approval by way of a shorthand '+1' :p

+1

Wouldn't really bother me if the post counts were visible or not, generally never look at them anyways.

Edit: Oh, 387 posts until a new avatar, yay!

What's MM? Everyone keeps going on about it...i've only been here about 2 months so please excuse me :)

Members Market
Members Market?
The members market is provided as a free service to active and contributing forum members. OcUK are not liable for any deals that are done in the Members Market, you are free to buy and sell at your own risk. Please read the rules of the Members Market before you proceed to make your first sale.

Access to the Members Market forum requires two things. Firstly, you will need to have over 250 posts and have been signed up for at least 90 days. Please note that this does not mean you spam the forums simply to increase your posts, as this action will result in posts being deducted, and if you continue this behaviour, your account will eventually be banned/suspended. Once you reach 250 posts, you will need to activate your trust. This is either found in your UserCP, or you can press the trust button that appears at the bottom of all your posts.

Once you satisfy both of these criteria, Members Market access will be granted within 24hrs. Please do not post on the forums asking why you cannot access the members market, if you have any queries, email one of the forum Dons/Admins. The contact addresses are available in the FAQ.

post count is just a number, it has very little meaning really

It has some meaning - it indicates how active/involved you are in the forums for start.

Sure, it's not overly important, but it has a purpose.

I say keep it but whenever someone mentions post count they should lose all of theirs ..... starting from NOW.

I've been on here nearly 5 years and I still havent hit 1000 posts.
I only ever post when I've got something to say on a topic and I think there are quite a few others on here who are equally not bothered about racking up a post count.

I wonder how many active members have an average post count under 1 post per day?

I have reached the heady heights of 0.6ppd. Not the most chatty of souls although reasonably active. Just nice not to be known as a thug any more :)

Meh. Postcount is nice in that it shows you take part in the forums. But doesn't give you an indication to how much of a "valuable" member.

Overall, if you just spam, mods will catch you and punish you, so /shrug

We've been here before, no point removing them. They're there and not harming (or even really affecting) anything.

Gilly would have been around that number also but when he became an Admin his post count was altered.

I think I'd be 110k+ now. That's after slowing down.

I dont mind losing the post count only if I keep my pr0n subforum access going...

ps3ud0

I like my free delivery, so I wouldn't want to lose too many posts, though at around 7 posts per day it wouldn't take too long to build up again.

There should be some more sensible moderating in GD perhaps, it can get a bit stupid in there sometimes, but I guess it depends on what sort of a forum the owner and admins want.
