Removing/reducing nicotine in Cigarettes - good idea or nanny state gone to far?

This. I'm getting so tired of this mentality that we should be told how to live.

It's not being told how to live, it's safeguarding people from their own weakness and susceptibility to social pressure which leads to something addictive and potentially deadly. There is nothing wrong with that.

People in support, they'll come for alcohol and fatty/sugary foods next and you wont have any defence.

Ah yes, the "slippery slope" fallacy. They came for A, next they will come for B, etc, so they should not come for A.

Because they will ban cigarettes, next they will ban custard creams. Not really the same thing.

But it is, they have already gone for sugary drinks what's next to higher a animal fats

For the record, I enjoy a bit of alcohol and sugary, fatty food.....but I'm one of the minority in the UK that is able to enjoy such things without becoming a burden on the NHS by consuming them to excess. We need to tax them more to pay for all the fatties unfortunately.

I don't see a problem with banning sugary drinks. Some of those things are absolutely awful. Have they banned Robinson's Fruit Shoots? They damn well should.

I think it's a good idea, the flavoured cig ban along with gradually moving to weaker and weaker cigs helped me stop smoking. Currently doing the same with vaping too, started at 12mg nic and i've worked my way down to 5mg.

I wish they were required to put nic levels on cigarettes too (and tar). It's a nightmare figuring out strengths unless you're familiar with the brand and know how their lines correlate with strength.

It's the selfish health freaks that are draining the NHS. The government should encourage smoking and drinking to raise taxes and reduce the overall cost to the NHS
