Resident Evil (2026)

We had a couple of yank tourists sitting near us and they were yapping from start to finish. I get they were excited but it was a running conversation. Some people told them to stfu and still they continued.
Genuinely cannot enjoy the cinema these days due to this. It's so ******* annoying.

Just got back from seeing this.

Easily the best RE film so far and very enjoyable.

I will say however, this was RE from the point of view of….

the most incompetent, annoying idiot ever. To be fair all the characters were.

I’m probably in the minority but I always thought the first RE film was good… and better than this. Sure it had very ropey CGI for the ‘licker’ but it had some intrigue with the amnesia suffering lead and borrowed heavily (and successfully) from Aliens with the ‘overwhelmed mercenaries’.

Thought it was a good film on its own merit, nevermind a video game adaption, most of which are almost always lacking.

They have gone for a more relatable angle on this one and felt like a fresh take, yet at times familiar Resident Evil.

Plenty of Easter eggs and maybe should have even taken itself a bit more seriously, but a solid 4 out of 5.

was a good film but not really sure how much it has to do with RE. They kinda added about 2 details into the plot but that was it.The main character though was far to annoying standing around etc.

Watched it in IMax. Pretty trim run time of 90 mins so I wasn't bored.
I liked how they captured different aesthetics from the various games (I.e the first house and then the tunnel). I only played the 1st two RE games, however, I thought some of the beasties were taken from other games or film. For example, The Thing, Silent Hill and a vide game called Inside.

Great gore, expected gaming nods, overall good script, all good!

Felt it ended too soon though, wants to see more.

I enjoyed the film. I don't think it really had to be an RE film, Umbrella was mentioned once and that was about it.

Agreed about the self narration, it became a little irritating at points.

Overall I did enjoy it, kind of a classic monster horror.

7ish/10.

Watched this Sunday, overall enjoyed it. Nice for a different approach to RE but enough aspects to tie it back (Anyone notice the green herbs in the car? :D)

Added points for watching it in iMax on my own with about 30 people in and nobody within about an 8 seat radius of me!

I struggled with this, the trailers really didn't give a good impression of what to expect.

I did like the nods to the games, the puzzles and exploration from area to area, counting the bullets and discovering new weapons. The atmosphere was good at times, and some of the monster designs were pretty cool.

Unfortunately beyond that it all felt extremely disjointed, and it borders more on being a slapstick comedy than it does a horror, the tone of the humour mostly didn't land for me. The protagonist didn't help either, he just came across as insufferably awkward and incompetent throughout the entire movie.

I've very mixed feelings about it overall, I don't regret having watched it and it's short enough that the parts I didn't get on with didn't bother me too much. That said, in hindsight I would have rather watched it at home on the couch over taking a trip to the cinema.

5.5-6.0 out of 10 for me.

i really like it, lots of fun.

Easily the best RE film, but the competition is basically a collection of garbage so thats not saying much.

I had a lot of fun watching this. Went with a mate who doesn't usually watch horror films and backs out halfway through them sat on the sofa at home, and we both walked out having said we really enjoyed the mixture of humour, horror and suspense.

I do feel the pregnant girlfriend side was completely irrelevant and sideswiped by the end, because you're not really encouraged to care whether he gets home for her and his impending baby

Yeah sorry combo breaker from me.
I never had a PS1 .

6/10

I recognise the monsters and a few of the game tropes made me smirk.
Its an ok horror film, excellent effects, and I guess an ok comedy??
I got worn down by his, and every characters, stupidity and constantly swearing literally every line of dialogue.
Mercifully short at 90ish mins....

I got worn down by his, and every characters, stupidity and constantly swearing literally every line of dialogue.

If it doesn't hold a record for the number of F-bombs in a movie by a large margin I'll be in shock.

It felt like that one word was half the dialogue, I know why as it's a bit of a nod to "horror games" as other chunks of the movie are, including the dodgy dialogue and what have you, but it didn't land for me whatsoever and quickly became annoying.

Enjoyed it, but the monsters didn't really have much to do with many of the Resident Evil games I've played. Maybe that's not a bad thing?

Yea there's a few Easter eggs, but it could have been its own thing really rather than use the Resident Evil IP.

'Welcome to racoon city' was probably the closest to the games, and that wasn't great.
