I don't think they will do a RE2 remake as that would need built from the ground up. Hope the prove me wrong though. This is just going to be pretty much a re release of the GameCube REmake with a few subtle upgrades.

They should do all the resident evils from the 90's until RE 3, in this era, so updated graphics etc for next gen and PC, that would be awesome!

Sarcasm aside, I've never really played the earlier RE games so I'm definitely interested.

It's a 'Remastering' of a remake actually .

Seriously though, it's one of the best remakes I've ever seen and it's actually deserving of the title of remake. It feels like a completely different game yet completely familiar. If you don't have it, buy it as you won't regret it. I wouldn't rebuy it if you had access to the GC version though.

would have preferred resident evil 2, never did get into number 1 on ps1, but i guess this gives me a chance it give it another shot, will definitely buy it in the hope the sales make them bring out number 2

The screens released are also confirmed by Capcom to be from the 360/PS3.

Woohoooo, that bit always used to creep me out on the original, after you go back into the mansion, the fmv comes on with the hunter coming back after you and eventually meeting up with you in the above scene!

This isn't an exact copy of the first, as there are new areas etc. New enemies too. But it's very similar? I never got all the way through it. But it differs to the first quite a bit. I remember having to set fire to zombie corpses for some reason too.

I wonder if they've been developing Res 2 and thought about just doing a simple upgrade to Res 1 and getting a bit of hype out there before they drop the Res 2 bomb!

Really hope this sells well and encourages Capcom to do a REmake2 but Capcom being Capcom I seriously doubt it.
Puts me in the mood to go stick REmake in the Wii but i'll hold off until this is released.

Having not played RE originally but doing so a year or two ago, the graphics weren't the problem. The controls were.

I loved resi4 though.

It's somewhat ironic that the game that really defined how a remastering should be done is now itself getting the quick and dirty upscale and polish 'HD' treatment.

Excited on the one hand as this is one of my favourite games, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up with effects that are missing from the original or other issues similar to RE4 HD.

I'm not sure how good the pan and scan will be.. missing top and bottoms of the screen and scrolling up and down doesn't sound great.

That aside I'll buy it but good god I've played this one so many times (PC, PS1 Directors Cut, Remake, DS).

I think the Resident Evil 2 people are hoping for is out of the question as no remake pre exists of that and it doesn't look like they are going to much effort here. A full remake to make it acceptable by today's standards would almost need the team and budget of Resident Evil 7 (so its not going to happen). I'd say 0 is a much more likely candidate next.

Haha its one of those games I just can't get my head around why everyone doesn't love lol. Four long campaigns, a good story, great graphics, loads of fan service bringing together favorite characters and possibly the best multiplayer implementation I've ever experienced.

I think part of it is I played Resident Evil 4/5 and 6 relatively close together and judged them all on their own merits as if they were released at the same time. Resident Evil 5 was my most disappointing entry.

RE6 was clearly designed as a coop game, thats for sure. I also really liked the long length of each of the campaigns, but the "on the rails events" and QTE's really rubbed me the wrong way in each of them.

RE: revelations is the best of the newer games in my opinion. Even enjoyed it more than 4 and that's quite a bold statement as thats also a very solid title.

If capcom remaster the first 3 games, I'll have a day one purchase of each of them.

Would love for a remake of 2.

The remake on the GC was great, but couldn't stand the new mechanic they added, having to burn or blow the heads of zombies, so that you didn't get an annoying surprise later on.

Bout time they brought something out that will make me **** my pants... Tried emulator jobby on this *naughty naughty* but just felt wrong and didn't play properly.

I'll purchase straight away if they do it for the Xbox one.
