Resident Evil Remake HD

RE6 was awful, a friend and I couldn't even bring ourselves to finish it on co-op, it just dragged on and on and on. The storyline was more absurd and convoluted than anything Hideo Kojima could come up with, the characters, script and voice acting (despite having some talented names) were poor, and the gameplay was horrendously repetitive. Stupid QTEs which were made even harder on co-op if there was any lag between the two of you.

For a game that was clearly designed around being co-op, it was completely silly that you had to start the game as a solo player and complete the first bit before you could actually do the co-op bit.

I enjoyed the Leon section as it went back to the RE roots but i found the rest of it a bit meh. If me and my friend wasn't big res fans I don't think we'd of finished it.

If only they would give us Resident Evil 1 REMake into an open world game where you can play through the mansion and complete that game then free roam down through the mountains into Racoon City (taking on zombies/other monsters) to then play Resident Evil 2 as a REMake.

I'd make a mess in my pants if they ever did that.

Fantastic news, I've been watching the Resident Evil retrospective on Gametrailers and Game Informer's super replay of the original and the remake on YouTube, I'm already itching for a Resi marathon so I can't wait for this. Those videos are well worth checking out as well if you haven't seen them.

Capcom are in a financial mess. As much as I would love a Resident Evil 2 remake, that is just pure wishful thinking.

Now Resident Evil 0 I can see them doing, as it would also be the same process as they are doing for this game.

Out of curiosity though what is one thing that is better about Resident Evil 5 than 6? :) I really enjoyed the 4 different campaigns it almost felt like 4 games in one (a long requested feature after the "his" and "hers" discs of Resident Evil 2. The increased focus on melee was a fun change and it was only really appropriate to use in small groups so didn't make the guns redundant.

I think the Backtracking open world style is really over rated now after going back and playing Code Veronica last year. It use to be my favorite Resi Evil but that games pacing was torture on reflection and has two terrible boss fights that if you don't know are coming up an hour before you reach them end your game.

neither of them are brilliant games tbh. I would be happy with four campaigns but I would at least like them to be enjoyable :P I think they tried to make them all different in the hope people would enjoy it and not be bored with the same enemies and locations but I'd rather have one awesome campaign instead of one that was enjoyable and the rest 'meh'

I kind of agree with the back tracking, it can be very annoying and repetitive but I like the way Res 2 did it in that you would open up new parts of the police station. CV was never my favourite, I did enjoy it the first time I played it but that was because Chris was back and the story was actually pretty good, it did have some annoying elements though like you pointed out.

Res 1,2 and 3 were the pinnacle in imo and I know a lot of folks don't like 3 but I thought it was pretty awesome and the nemesis was a great feature in the game, always feeling like he could smash through a wall at any time! I remember finishing 3 and me and my friend were hyped because barry was back :D

Here is my order of preference:

RE2>RE1>RE:CV>RE3>RE0>RE:R>RE4>RE5>RE6

A lot of people liked Resident Evil 4, for me this was when the game started going down hill in a big way. No more proper zombies, no more mansions etc. Resident Evil 5 and 6 were horrid, 6 was easily the worst of the series by a long shot I would say. Not sure if anyone who played a Resident Evil game from late 90's would say it is a good game.

I love backtracking by the way. Get a key and come back to unlock something that opens a whole new area is very cool. When I see a locked door I am like, I wonder what is in there, can't wait to unlock it. But then that is just me. Also when you revisit a area, sometimes things change which is cool :D

I am playing Resident Evil: Revelations right now and I think this is the right direction they need to be heading in. They just need to improve on that formula. Remove that scanning device for starters and set it in a mansion again. If they want to do co-op, they should allow for people to be able to go where ever they want and explore on their own. Then have some areas where you need to join up to get past perhaps. Being able to split up and stay in communication via mic would be awesome. Just imagine your friend gets in trouble and is screaming help help over the mic. lol :p

I do think the main thing they need to do is get single player experience right, then work on adding a few co-op elements. If you design the whole game around co-op where if you play alone the dumb ai follows you it will likely be crap.

Really looking forward to this though the screen 'following' thing seems slightly dodgy. Wish they just keep it at 16:9 with the black bars at the top and the bottom. Looking forward to see more, when is this coming out in 2015 guys?

.

As someone who preordered and then stood in a queue on release day to pick up his copy of Resident Evil for the original Playstation, and who has also played every game in the series, I can categorically say that RE4 is the best game in the series.

Not only that, it's one of the best, if not the best game of all time.

And although I was hyped to play Leon again, RE6 was a travesty of a game in all departments, it was shockingly bad.

Story wise 1,2 and 3 but I got more enjoyment out of resident evil 5 due to the online co-op. Had me playing it for ages.

I also played and enjoyed the original games and prefer Resident Evil 6 over all.. so I think my opinion is just as valid :). I think what this shows it that Resident Evil fans like the franchise for lots of different reasons and so its harder to make one game in the franchise that will appeal to everyone... unlike say something like GTA where its pretty obvious what everyone wants.

I'm not sure how Resident Evil 4 can be thought of as largely better than Resident Evil 6 though unless were talking as a product of their respective times. The environments wernt as varied and the cast was hit or miss (but I did enjoy it a lot though overall).

Just for fun this is how id rate them bearing in mind recent playthroughs;

Resident Evil 6 > Resident Evil 2 > Resident Evil 1/Remake > Resident Evil 4 > Resident Evil:CV > Resident Evil 3 > Resident Evil 5.

as mentioned in the PC thread, as long as this points Capcom in the right direction for new RE games, then I'm fine with them going back to the well yet again.

You're seriously putting Resident Evil 6 as the pinnacle of the series?

When did you start playing them?

Ermm Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 and CV on release. 4, 5, 6 last year. Yes for me thats the one game I'd gladly choose over the others. :)

Silent Hill/ Deadly Premonition IMO did survival horror better if I wanted a traditional survival horror game.
