Isn't Cancun the Ibiza and magaluf for Americans?
If you go all inclusive, expect to spend a lot on tips as well - the staff rely on that because of the American influence there. If you don't tip when they bring the first drinks over you probably won't get served again.
Moon Palace - just outside cancun.
Absolute Paradise & we were treated like King and Queen for 2 weeks. And you can use the facilities at any of the other 5 resorts they own in the area.
I went there in July! It was absolutely bloody fantastic.

Cannot recommend it enough, was the holiday of a lifetime honestly.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't seem to have any bookings for mid/late July 2010 sadly for me
How is the food etc there? Do you know if there is any difference between booking online at Thomsons or going to the Travel Agent?
Just come back this morning, El Dorado Royale Casita in River Maya about 30 minutes away from Cancun.

We loved it so much, we going back next week, come home this morning sorted work out and going back out next monday for another week. Not cheap to stay there but the hotel is something else. Its all-inclusive gourmet food. It's voted one the best hotel resorts in the world for the 4th year running.
Recommend going to to http://www.cocobongo.com.mx/home.php?Lenguaje=en - amazing nightclub.
sounds great i'm looking for somewhere to go with wife and 4 year old in feb next year. Thought about florida but mexico might be nice. I usually HATE hotel buffets so avoid all inclusive resorts like the plague since you are usually forced to paying for meals you'll never eat but gourmey buffet sounds nice what do you mean by gourmet as one man's gourmet will be another's scotch egg.
Adults only unfortunately, they do have a sister hotel though that allows kids called the Azul I think, it's not cheap though as we want to go back and have the whole experience again but can't go to the same hotel.
It's not really gourmet buffet as such. There's a buffet in some restaurants for breakfast and I think one night they had one in the mexican fusion restaurant when I was there, rest of the time it's a menu set up and you order what ever you want off it (and as much as you want).
Things I had there were: lobster bisque, carpaccio of beef with truffle oil, scallops on cactus leaf, sashimi, sushi, mahi mahi in a sesame seed crust with a sweet and sour sauce (this was on room service). It's way above the usual food standards at some AI resorts. They also do more 'normal' foods like burgers and pizzas during the day if you want it too.
If you want a quiet romantic honeymoon an all inclusive resort hotel in Cancun really probably isn't the best option, allthough a lot will depend on what time of year you plan on going. Personally if your wedding is next summer I'd look to go to somwehere like Thailand as it's the off season and much quieter you could have a lovely week in an Island Paradise like Ko Phi Phi in relative piece and mix it up with a few days in Bangkok or one of the livlier islands
Presume so, friends have just got back off their honeymoon and they had no issues at all.
http://www.karismahotels.com/resort/azul-sensatori-hotel-karisma That's one of the sister hotels that accepts kids, if it's anything like the El Dorado Royale/Casitas it'll be stunning.
Pah! I linked to that one ages agoWas there in July, no problems with Swine flu, I honestly cannot tell you how good it was.
So you did! Oops.
If it's anything like the El Dorado (it's sister hotel) it'll be amazing.
You'll love it.
Just tried to see if I could book the sensatori for next year just for an idea of price but keeps saying nothing available, boo.
On Trip Advisor and there are a few awful reviews for some of the resorts, but the Excellent reviews far outweigh them
