Retiring at 33 to play MMOPRGs, am I mad?

This is not a joke post, I guess there isn't as many gamers on these boards as I thought.
There are, but they're in the gaming forum.

Your problem I think is that you have no view of reality, and you've seen that others in here do.

Oh theres brickloads of gamers on these boards, I just find the whole subject rather hilarious and hard to beleive. I am an former mmorpg addict myself and I'm 30. Haven't played one in years though because they're all nothing but overgrown time sinks.

make like an ex friend of mine, knock up an 18 yr old chick claim JSA/child/housing benefit for the rest of your life and yep... play mmorpgs.

Go down the path of the benefit claimer tbh.

Plenty of gamers here. I have a friend who did something similar. He quit an £80kpa job after he got sick of it and took up teaching.
He now spends his very long holidays shooting, waterskiing etc.

If you are going to play MMORPG full time you can makea living selling virtual stuff. Then it becomes a bit like a job. Other disadvantages include no real social life and your wife leaving you.

If you are a seriously good player with seriously good characters then you could make a living doing this. However I think you'd get very lonely fast.

My advice is get out and get a life.

Wonder what colour the sky is on Planet mcast123?

Gah think about it. Lie in the bath all day and play mmorpgs and hit on bored lonely american housewives.
Some people would pay 60kpa to do that.

I quit mmorpgs a few years back after the time involvement started to annoy the wife.

Whatever floats your boat, if thats what you want to do then go for it as long as you can make ends meet and you are happy. Its not my cup of tea, infact I couldn't think of anything more mundane and dull, but each to their own. No regrets.

Fixed. :D

I say do it.. Set up a VERY small home business dealing with some sort of remote tech support. Should pay for food and bills. Then play on!. Maybe look at online gambling as a source of income too.

LOL

to the OP yes you are mad,i would never quit a 60kpy job just to play computer games.when i was 13 i thought about retiring at 30 and just play games but knew it was impossible as theres no sort of money coming in (unless ** filthy rich)

No offence meant, but I can't see why any sane person would want to. Who retires to take part in a hobby continuously all day everyday? I can't think of anything more dull!

Avid gamer here (and played a lot of MMORPGs in the past) but nope, I think you;d be insane to do that.
You'll get bored of it fast and how unfulfilling a life would it be?

I understand I need an income hence the post, I wanted to see if anyone else has done it before and can offer advice. I didn't say I was giving up my family, friends, girlfriend, other hobbies etc. I would just like to spend more time on mmorpgs than working or watching TV. Some people are happy with a semi, 2.1 kids, and a regular job until they're 65, I'm just not one of them. As for "willy waving", you obviously haven't lived and worked in London before, I was actually refering to the fact I don't have or earn much money.
