Retro console and games thread

Got myself a gameboy micro :)

I wish I kept mine but I sold it to the cex many moons ago when I got my DS. I'm sure I still have pokemon and zelda for it some where. It just seems perfect for keeping in the office and having a quick blast.

I dug up my neo geo pocket the other week, and the screen is scratched from being in a box unprotected with a load of other stuff. :(

What about trying some plastic polish? I had some success on an old Nokia screen with automotive scratch remover.

wish it was that easy, its hard dug in to the screen.. I was thinking of getting rid of it any how as I've never play it anymore. No matter how much I actually get for the console, its likely to be profit. I got it from that second hand game shop that game took over for about a fiver.

The text was all japanese, but I recognised the battery model from the message but they said it was faulty. Of course without a working internal battery all the system errors defaulted to Japanese. So I brought it faulty, when to maplins next door and brought the batter and swapped it. RESULT :)

I got some cool games for it too, I may try to pick up another one; its a shame its not backlit.

I have gotten the bug.

Within the last 2 weeks I have purchased a Snes, Megadrive 2, Amiga 600, xbox, ps1, psone and Commodore c64.

Going to have so much fun over the next few months :)

I figure this would be as good a place as any to ask. Sega Master System, Alex Kidd built into the console.

WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO IN THAT ROOM WITH THE GHOSTS AND THE SYMBOLS ON THE FLOOR???

I must have gotten to that part 8 times and never knew what the hell to do, as a 6 year old this greatly troubled me and its been bothering me ever since. So, anyone know?

My gameboy micro is scratched to hell but I'm having a hard time finding a fascia gir it on ebay. I dont actually use my micro very often cos I find paying on my ds light much easier and better Image quality too...

I scratched mine within 2 weeks of getting it.. it had tobacco in it from being in the same pocket as my fags. So I removed the facia to clean it from both sides, they use VERY soft plastic as I used a tissue and it marked it. The facia never really took off considering most people brought the colour that they wanted in the first place and kept the original on.

Guys i'm thinking of getting a Gamecube to play all the Resident Evil games but I sold my T.V a while back (never watched it) and i'm wondering if there's some sort of adapter for a PC monitor?

I have a HDMI, VGA and DVI-D slot free.

Game cubes are a bit of a pain to get hold of; I've been looking for a black one with controllers and memory card for a while. I may result in getting a black wii instead as there's millions of the things that ain't getting used. They play all the gc games and there's virtual console on them for even older games.

So should I go for a black Wii instead and play all the old Gamecube games on that? Do they have HDMI/DVI inputs too for my monitor?

It doesn't have to be a Black Wii just so you know, they all play GC games except for the Wii mini :). It doesn't natively support HDMI but you can get a passthrough kind of thing that allows you to use a HDMI cable. They're usually less than a tenner from Asian sellers on eBay or a bit more from UK sellers.

i have a black wii, it looks cooler, but as said above works the same :). most likely an easier way to play cube games and you then have access to the wii catalogue too :)....but beware cube pads are now stupid money on there own, almost easier to get a cube bundle just for the pad lol

I run Wii via component and it looks GREAT! (cable was £3 on the bay i think)

Gamecube on the Wii, surely the only true answer is a Wavebird controller :D

Don't know how easy to get they are now, I remember getting mine in Forbidden Planet about 5 years ago.

does the wavebird receiver fit onto the ports on the wii? looking at the pic, its curved to match the curved front of the gc port panel while the wii has a flat panel.
