Retro console and games thread

I'm saving now for the play expo, hopefully the resellers are sensible with there prices as I would love to pickup a pc engine.

Raven Games in Beckenham, Kent seems like it has a good stock of PC Engine consoles and games going by their website if you want something sooner than at Play Expo.

does the wavebird receiver fit onto the ports on the wii? looking at the pic, its curved to match the curved front of the gc port panel while the wii has a flat panel.

Fits absolutely fine, if I remember tonight I'll chuck mine in the Wii and take a photo. Really helps keep things neat if you have the Wii on a TV unit or something. :)

Is it a Japanese orange cube? I'd love a orange cube

Yep! Had it shipped with ridiculously quick delivery on the Jap launch with a copy of the Resident Evil remake. I was desperate to play it. Hasn't really been used much since. Just for Zelda and RE:0.

Just got this lot for £40 delivered (minus the dog) all complete with cables off the game trader facebook group really pleased with it, now i have something to play my shinobi 3,mario kart 64 and goldeneye on.

Resident Evil 2 for Dreamcast on eBay for 5.99 but it only comes with Leon's disc. Tempted to grab it but not sure if I shouldn't just wait for a decent auction to come up.

This thread is making me want a SNES. I've never played Zelda, and I've never completed Mario 3. :(

Zelda III is a masterpiece and still holds up so well today. I can't pick between this and Wind Waker!

I'm playing through it again ATM and i'm loving it. At the time it was revolutionary and it's perfection for that time has to be respected. I remember my brother talking about this for at least 9 months and when we got it we stayed up till 1am each night until HE completed it. (I was at primary school). Today it's still fantastic and you will love it. It hasn't aged like most games of that era and you really ought to play it. Have you played other Zelda's?

Mario 3 is good too but it doesn't send you in to Hyrule :P

On a side note does anyone else find comfort in hearing someone play games quietly in the background whilst trying to go to sleep. My brother used to do this most weekends and as soon as my GF does it I'm off in a flash!

I've been playing this one recently with my Dc hooked up via a VGA box and scanline generator, looks good, best version I reckon. Yeah RE2 is a bit expensive on eBay around 20-30 quid depending on condition, the one I bought last year wasn't in the best condition as sellers opinions of what "mint" or "very good" is varies drastically.

wait for a complete version, Claire is too good to be left out ;)

I've caved already :p. Watching a disc only auction for both discs. Hopefully I can grab them for about a tenner and sell Leon's disc for about a fiver meaning I have basically gotten it for about a tenner complete.

I've had my Claire fill with Code Veronica anyway :p.

Got the Dreamcast hooked up via scart and it looks really good on my 40" LED, much for so than my PS2 and Wii.

Just bought both discs for £7.50, so £13.50 complete with a Leon disc spare :D. Will throw the Leon disc up on eBay for around a fiver with a best offer option and see if I get anything for it :p.

Been off work this week spending some quality time with missus and little boy...so bit out of touch with the thread...

Since buying my saturn and totally rekindling my love for the machine I have bought 9 complete pal games, 2 jap complete games and an action replay 4mb auto plus cartridge. This means I am now region free and have both a 1+4mb exansion cart and 4mb mem card.....seriously the best purchase ever for a saturn owner. 17 quid delivered from play-asia :)
