Retro console and games thread

The Mini version of the Snes was only realeased in the North America and Japan in 1997, although you need to do a simple mod for RGB they all come with a 1-CHIP video encoder that gurantees the best image quality. I also personally like the small form factor as well :)

cheers :)

Been watching Game Chasers on YT - made me wish I still had some of my retro stuff.
No idea what happened to my Amiga 500, I used to love that thing.

Premier Manager 1992, first one ever I believe and still to this day the only one I actually enjoy playing. (I'm not into football but love that game).

Be interesting to see what you can pick up in the UK after watching this show. probably a lot less - certainly in shops.

My little retro corner that needs a bit of cable tidying.

New additions are the Megadrive 2 and Saturn.

Are there any good places to pick up old retro games? Not interested in a full collection but would like to put together a collection of things I personally enjoy.

Much chance of finding them at car boot sales or charity shops?

It's not something I've ever been to so I've got no idea what they stock.
Can imagine it being a wasted trip 99% of the time but maybe I'm wrong

Never been into a market, car boot sale, charity shop, 2nd hand shop etc in my life but I just know a lot of what I like was never big in the UK so can't imagine me finding much.

But if others have had luck then that'd be interesting and maybe worth some time for me to go check some out

Ebay or Gumtree are good places to start looking. Charity shops you usually find very few decent titles unless you are very lucky. Car boots are also hit and miss as you have traders snapping up the best deals before they even get put out.

Score! One of the greatest games ever on the Amstrad has been won by me :D Wacked in a tenner, boom! I'm seriously over the moon right now :D

I think my problem is being in the north east. Anything for sale in the UK the quantity available goes up about 10x once you get >100 miles from my house.

Ebay prices are just daft on the games I'm after - i may go for some but having them digital, for $3-6 makes paying £60-£80 for them pretty hard to do.

I sold Suikoden 2 not long ago for £80 and picked it up on the US PSN but maybe shouldn't have!

Main thing i want is Star Ocean 2 on PS1 but it's harder to find a decent PAL copy and I play them on my PS3...bummer :(

There are some impressive collections in here!

I've been getting into Neo Geo for quite a while now so I thought Id post up some pics. Here is my AES and loose games I've been acquiring over the last 6 months or so..

And a number of boxed games I'm quite proud of..

Slug 3 is quite a recent purchase, and a very costly one at that!

I'd love a Neo Geo but cant afford the cost of the games. You're not wrong about Metal Slug 3. I think that game costs more than the whole of my retro console collection :D

not sure about No.3 but I know if you get a "legit" version of No.1 your talking 1000 or 10'000's now

Not quite as retro as some of this stuff, but very happy to finally get my hands on the SNES classic controller for Wii. :)

Never had enough stars when they were originally available on Club Nintendo but managed to get lucky on ebay.

It plugs into the Wii remote, so although I've not actually tried it yet the way I understand it is that the system sees it as a regular classic controller so it should work with any games that support that on both Wii and Wii U.

Only caveat being that it obviously has no analogue sticks like the regular classic controller so any games that need them won't work with it. Should work great with the virtual console games anyway, I shall try it with some super mario world later.
