Retro console and games thread

been to the car boot today, got a master system 2 with 2 pads and lemmings in great condition, ps one with all elads and pad in mint condition and a gamecube which is fair condition with all leads and pad for £10! going to use these ass display models next to there boxed models.

Hehe, the classic case of floppies. Most of my Amiga games were to be found in one of these... :D

Edit: Used to have pics of my Megadrive collection near the start of this but the photos are currently fail, and I can't remember who they were uploaded to...
Was inspired to clean up what's left of it (only 1 megadrive and not so many games now). There was mould growing on the controllers and console unit. :| (Never leave stuff in a damp cupboard!!!!)
Will test it out this afternoon, annoyingly it's always displayed black and white on my current TV, if at all. Will try a cheapo LCD this afternoon.

Theme Park is in there.

I noticed a memory upgrade is in the trapdoor.

Chuffed, will play it and sell it on. I guess I'll make more than my tenner back ;)

really need to get in the loft and sort through my spectrum games, soo soo many up there theres bound to be a couple of pennys to go toword some mint boxed consoles.

are there even any 'ones to look for'

edit*********

need some help identifying an 80's vcr game, the game itself was on vcr obviously and had a steering wheel which connected to a runner that sat under the tv, on the runner was a small plastic car that moved left to right as you steered and buzzed when you strayed off road.
Can not for the life of me remember the name but i used to love it, was so much of a faff on to set up it was rare i got to play on it but loved it i did

I think I'm going to buy a Neo Geo, American SNES and some games once my place is done up... Should be a good laugh for drunken retro gaming sessions with mates! :D

I did own both at one stage but the price of games on the NG was just crippling considering I was only a teenager on £150 a week way back then!

me and a mate had some drunken fun on California games, was great reliving the golden days :D

Got a boxed playstation and boxed megadrive II turning up this week for display so excited about that.

Need to clear space, gonna be selling off my childhood soon! :(!

I'm gutting my house out for renovation so threw out my CPC464, 64K RAM pack, Multiface II and a load of games... I almost cried; a bit of me died inside... :(

I'm thinking about putting a 21" monitor next to my pc monitor and hooking up a gamecube/dreamcast to it.

Anyone done something like this? It'll be through DVI or vga.
And also be able to connect some dual speakers to it aswell.

Been reading about the HD box pro. Anyone had any experience?

Well, I've got my DC hooked up to a 37" 1080p Tv through RGB Scart and the picture quality is superb (for Scart). An HDTV is essentially a monitor with a tuner and speakers built in anyway (albeit crap ones - get an aftermarket sound system if you can) so I guess the results on an actual monitor would be very similar indeed. I would recommend doing it mate. I've seen convertors for that type of thing going on Flea-bay for between 12 and 25 quid so it wouldn't be too expensive to do I'm guessing.

Good luck mate, and please post pictures if/once you get it set up.

Received the dreamcast items I won on ebay other day, which contained:

2 Dreamcasts + power cables
2 Controllers (1 boxed)
VGA Box
VMU (Boxed)
Rumble Pack
Net disk + Cables

The 2 dreamcasts didn't seem to work, but all the other parts did on the dreamcast I owned already. Basically was buying a VGA box already and the rest set me back £4 rather than buying the box alone.

I have now fixed one of the dreamcasts just by opening and cleaning expansion slot and I think one of the screws was too long and was shorting the motherboard so took a screw from other dreamcast. I now have 2 working and 1 for spares :)

Also received a boxed Nes Advantage controller.

thought id do an update as its always nice to get some pics in this thread. so heres my dc games so far:

This looks incredible. You've sparked something off here and I've decided to have a go myself - could do with some advice though.

Hows your build going ? is it finished ?

Cheers, I've not done anything for the past month, i've got parts problems at the moment so need to wait for a few items to come into stock in the US.

I've drawn up all the sideart and such, just need to get off my bum and get it printed.
