another one to add to my on going collection

2011-06-14143233.jpg

not sure if i paid over the odds but all that as seen for £40, most of the n64 games i wanted are there so it saves me a lot of messing about

next target = SNES and then im done (for now). then its game hunting time!!!

edit: oops, i didnt get 2 copies of lylat wars i forgot to put it in its box :)

£40 for that is good, zelda with it as well, goes for about £10 on its own usually.

Ive just got back into my Retro collection. Might get a Nes sometime soon. Out of intrest where do people buy there retro games from apart from the bay?

good to know i got a good deal then, it was the bundle or a lone n64 and controller for £10 and its less hassle getting the bunch.

im trying to build as much of my collection as easy as possible and although i have had some great buys of ebay ive so far avoided it apart from a couple of gameboy colour games, my collection has been between local pawn shops and car boot sales. using this method has a lot of luck involved as with car boots there is zero comeback if somthing isnt working but its normally easy to tell the genuinne sellers

so far my collection has been;
Dreamcast - local pawn shop inc controller and VMU £10
Megadrive and a couple of games - local car boot £5
Gamecube missing contoller - car boot £4
bundle of gamecube games - car boot £3
Saturn, 2 controllers and a load of games (mint condition, still had the breaker in the battery) - £20
N64 bundle - local pawn shop £40... little secret, i went in alone and asked what the best price was and he wouldnt got lower then £50, a couple of hours later i sent my wife in alone and she got it for £40 with a bit of sweet talking :p

i think so far ive done OK, the only issue is the power connector on the megadrive is a bit loose but nothing duct tape doesnt fix (may look into it soon) and the controller is a bit naff

im off car booting again sunday in the hunt for a SNES and some more games but i dont think i could turn down a NES or a Megadrive if the price was right

Great deal on that N64 bundle. Extreme G and Rogue Squadron, ha that takes me back! You should look for Turok 2 and Diddy Kong Racing as well.

So glad I found this thread. Been really wanting to get myself a SNES for a few years and the bug has really bit in the last few weeks.

GTanny - you've inspired me to hit my local charity shops/car boots!

Still don't think you can beat Super Street Fighter 2 or Mario Kart on the SNES for sheer laughs when mates are around!

Ah right, fair enough. I assumed OP thought it was rare or something going by the post. TBH you can still get it ~£5 on eBay as well, yucky platinum version even cheaper.

Don't you dare try and take away my buzz. :( :p

I think i'll give the de-yellowing a miss, I don't like the sound of making/using that retrobright stuff, i'm sure i'll either end up blind, in pain or worse.... have a ruined console :p

I've just been to my local retro shop again and picked up a couple more n64 games for the collection :)

Also i've just stumbled upon this video:

As sucky as the virtualboy was, this is actually kinda cool :)

Latest additions, snes from ebay with 2 controllers £10 then picked up super mario all stars (the one without super mario world) and starfox for £2.50 each

Also just picked up cool spot and lion king for £1 each

More pics to come tonight also as the cab is now painted it just needs putting back together.

so then i said an update on the retro/mame cab so here it is.

so far its about 90% complete, the finish needs a few touch ups and the most obvious one is its missing its controlls... these will be ordered when i stop buying retro consoles & games... the consoles will stop now unless i get a stupid price on one i dont have... and games wise i have just picked up super castlevania IV and super mario world off ebay so that should complete my current collection until i get the controlls done.

oh and i do need to purchase a good multi scart adapter and some scart leads and RF isnt great... even on an old CRT TV

anyway onto pics

from top left to bottom right: SNES, N64, PS2, PSone, Gamecube, Saturn, Megadrive & Dreamcast.

the only thing missing is a list and pics of my games but im sorting out the top storage on the cab and they will soon all be stored in there.

and thanks to my wife for the artwork... only thing i did was the base coat and the space invader
