Retro console and games thread

I've one here... 1230 @ 50Mhz + 8Mb, 4Gb HD, 2 external floppy drives... Awesome bit of kit!! :D I think they are fairly cheap now unless you start trying to get upgrades in them etc.. Saw an accelerator card recently like I used to own, £440!!

You can always buy one ;)

I have the 500+ but the ebay prices are crazy for the 1200. Carboots are the only way at the moment.

Found an old disk with the actual Urban Shakedown OctaMED MOD on it for Some Justice '94 that was released as a PD Demo disk with accompanying graphics, so I recorded it up onto youtube

Thought it was apt in here

Bit of a fuzz occured on the bassline though, Fraps obviously isn't great at recording emulators, this wasn't on the MED file.

Quick question about snes games. How come some of them seem to be uniform with the label design, black label with the artwork centred and others seem to be random or have a larger space dedicated to the artwork, even on the same game.

If you look at mario kart, there are some selling that have the black label and smaller artwork and others that have a blue label with larger artwork.

The labels that are mainly black are usually the re-prints of the game (Like the playstation "Platinum"s).

With Mario Kart, the cart with a blue label is the first print and the black label is the cart from the red boxed re-print.

Thanks. Looking at filling some gaps in my old collection of games, will just grab either then (not too bothered about label), if they are the same other than that :).

I assume the fakes have standard screws rather than the 3.5mm gamebit. I have a the bits anyway, so if I get any dodgy looking carts I'll take a look inside.

Question about the American carts. Some games are much cheaper for an ntsc copy over a pal one, and some pal games don't like being forced into 60hz, so for them I'm going grab the American version.

They seem to have two cartridges though are some fake or did they change the design. Some I'm seeing have the horizontal slot about a 3rd of the way up the cartridge like pal and Japanese ones have. Others seem to have a much larger recessed area on the front of them.

Both designs show up when searching on google for cart designs.

got myself another charity shop game, never heard of the game but it was in good condition and for 99p it had to be bought
