Retro console and games thread

Still interested in that £400 bundle.

Works out about £29 a game, all with boxes and manuals.
Admittedly most of them are fighting games, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but would play them. Also a good start to a collection. :p

Still hugely conflicted, just worried about buying it and it not working because it's a Jap console.
Also it is a lot of money to me.

The console woud work fine you just use a stepdown. Having owned an AES, i would only recommend doing it if you want to shell out a lot of cash to collect the games, if your more interested in just playing the games then supergun and mvs is the route to go down.

Having said that there is something special about owning a collection of mint AES games, i still miss my copies of the last blade one and two.

Also, getting a supergun will mean you can play other jamma arcade games including some awesome CPS2 and Cave titles, i will never part with my CPS3 copy of Street Fighter 3 3rd strike.

id have super side kicks art of fighting series samurai showdown man the fighting games were awesome on aes :(

that package has some nice games but still 100 quid too dear. say im interested but ive seen a few similar id go to 300 but no more see what he says.

Also a Mega Drive 1 PSU will work with a AES just fine too. I used one for 6 months till I got hold of a step-down converter. You be surprised how many systems a Mega Drive 1 PSU will power and work OK. Mega Drive 2 got a different connector, so no use lol.

One of my mates was going to sell his old SNES console and games, however the console stopped working for him, so he gave his collection to me :D

There are some additional games not shown here, all in all, a good collection. I just need to buy a mega drive now.

Can anyone recommend a place where I can buy replacement boxes and internal card holders? I've had a look and found some places, but would like your recommendations.

Thanks.

Well I caved in, I spent all week asking friends and family what to do and the general consensus was that I should treat myself, so I have.

Can anyone tell me what kind of transformer I need for this?

Hope you have very deep pockets for the better games :D is it a JAP console ?

Finally cleared a giant backlog of work and can finally look into some retro stuff again. Managed to pick up 27 PSP games from a charity shop in Bath for £10 and have just ordered a Philips CD-I. Looking forward to playing some 7th Guest.

Well I had 1 hell of a surprise this morning.

Wasn't expecting it till mid-late next week!
So had to dash out and pick up a transformer, also got a multi-end PSU while I was out for another appliance. Got home and noticed that the PSU had the right end, so just used that instead :p. Thankfully I checked the polarity 1st, minus was on the inside :o

1st 2 things I noticed was that the console and the controller and surprisingly light, which was a little disappointing, since it looks like it weighs a ton. Unlike the cartridges....

You could bludgeon someone with 1 of these things!

Despite how light the controller feels, it works pretty damn well, buttons feel weird, but again work well.

Overall I'm very impressed, hopefully the dreams will stop now :p

Tried to sign up to the 2 major Neo Geo forums, I have a ton of questions, but neither websites have sent me authorisation emails, maybe because I only have an hotmail account, could use my work 1, but would rather not.

Yep, it's a JAP console.
I am hoping to start a collection, at a very leisurely pace, I am not paying £100+ for a game.
I'm hoping to pick up a MVS convertor, for cheaper games and to also pick up 1 of those 160-in-1 carts.
But I do love the AES carts, the boxes are fantastic, big and sturdy.
