I was thinking about CoD and the affect it's had on fps while playing BC2 tonight. For all the advancements in tech and the additions of vehicles and physics etc, current fps have taken a step back when it comes to gameplay. RTCW was considerably more demanding than CoD/MoH and BF/BC (and CS if we're being fair) when it came to aiming, movement, teamplay and tactics - the problem is that demanding alienates. It's much safer for a developer to produce a slow moving, iron sight spamming fps in which it takes 1 or 2 bullets to kill. The amount of luck and randomness this results in levels the playing field to the extent that anyone can jump on and have some fun. This is all good - it's just a shame it's killed off the shooters that required uber skills in the process.
