The games f2p is pretty awful. Can't wear epics. Can't run more than x flash points in a week. Can't do raids etc etc.
LOTRO is suppose to be the best f2p model. As far as I have experienced this is the worst one. ESO is better also.
Indeed the F2P on SWTOR is simply awful. And even if you spend £20 even get the initial 3 months sub, when that expires you are stuffed. Less money, less rewards, stuck to 2 characters, cannot wear all gear, no access to half the game.
At least TESO you buy it, and thats all.
I play both games, and TESO keeps more to it, because open world PvP at Cyrodiil, no restrictions to the game (you get the DLCs either with sub or buy them), better graphics and bigger game to explore and do things with people.
SWTOR is nice, but as was said, is become more and more single player game unfortunately. The KOTFE you meet not a single player for the first chapters, and all of it is solo, with tedious solo repeating at the end.
Ofc SWTOR has Starfighter battles, and that is what keeps me to it.
