Return to Sw:ToR

Anyone still playing this? It's currently £20.99 for 3 months sub, 2400 coins and all the expansions (which I'm guessing are free for subscribers anyway?). Quite tempted as I'm feeling quite Star Warsy at the moment and would like a new MMo to play :).

Yeah plenty still playing maybe not million's but more then enough to be ok.

Is think hard about it. I logged in the other day. The game has changed a lot since I last played and there are only 3 English, 3 French and 3 German servers for the EU. That's a massive drop from release. I'd be surprised if there's much life left in it. I'm cancelling my sub but if you do decide it's for you let me know I'm sure I can help you out with some stuff :)

Love how people comment on something they don't know

Yeah that's my main worry though I've heard the new expansions are quite single player orientated anyway and I'm not too concerned about playing solo if its feasible. Is F2P representative of the paid experience as I might try that as the offer is on until the 3rd.

It is very single player based, pity but it is what it is, though still plenty of the normal things in game. (by normal I mean mainline MMO stuff)

Ah i figured it out, Nvidia latest drivers causing the BSOD so rolled back.

I have added you Nemeses.

Cool cya in game!

That's odd seeing as I played this right from the start and that every single person in my guild has left the game. It had changed beyond all recognition. It started as subs then went f2p, a very bad move. It became more and more a solo game, the pvp was neglected and an obvious cash grab ensued.

I like MMO's as much as anyone but this is not one certainly not a patch on SWG. F2p has killed MMO's, the community is now full of game hoppers wanting instant gratification and free stuff. The truth is a decent MMO takes a lot of money to keep it going for years, to add new content and give players confidence that they can invest a few years in the game.

I'm confident once the younger generation of players ditch the genre after they been suckered enough times that the niche for subscription MMO's will open up again. It will never be mainstream but games like EVE show it can work although I'm not happy with any kind of pay 2 win business model makes playing pointless.

If you enjoy it good for you but it could have been a lot more. It does however show that despite being fantastic developers Bioware lacked experience in the genre.

None of that I disagree with except you said the game has no life left, there is still plenty of players in this game, more than enough to make it feel alive.

Added: as to F2P killing the game, don't agree with that bit, yes it brought in some players we would be better of without but it also brought in a lot of good people, it has also injected new life into the game, I don't mind f2p, just get into a guild you feel a connection with and the rest does not matter .

I actually said "I'd be surprised if there was much life left in it". That's very different from "I said there was no life left in it". The first is speculation the second is a statement of fact.

I spent well over a decade auditing medical research studies and the devil is in the detail ;)

Back on the subject, there are only 3 EU English servers left and no one is queuing for them. Whilst it looks like a lot of people it costs a huge amount to keep adding content which let's fact it is needed add it isn't a sandbox game like EVE and without it players will move on to the next shiny. That may not be a bad thing as I can't see them licensing more than one Star Wars MMO at a time as evidenced by SWG being killed off. Enjoy it while you can, I did enjoy the first 12 months I'm just done with theme parks now.

The games f2p is pretty awful. Can't wear epics. Can't run more than x flash points in a week. Can't do raids etc etc.

LOTRO is suppose to be the best f2p model. As far as I have experienced this is the worst one. ESO is better also.

I did play it and enjoyed it a lot when it first came out. I did cheat after a while though. Used a spaceship mission bot to get almost all classes max level. Got a ban and stopped it lol. The only multilayer game i ever cheated on.

They let ilum fall off the face of the game for far too long. When it came back it just wasn't the same and had little interest.

I do want to play it as I feel I'm missing vital story in my star wars universe and I was a devout star wars fan. I just don't enjoy the limitations of the f2p model. Disappointed Disney haven't stepped in and fixed this.

IDD with your other points, but to be fair The Red Eclipse server seems to be constantly "Very Heavy", I even got placed in a queue the other day when I reinstalled after a long hiatus.

The Force Awakens has given me a renewed itch to play this game...might even complete a class story :-).

Anyone in a good guild on the Red Eclipse Imperial side? I used to be in a decent one a year ago, but it seems abandoned now.

If you do decide to come back please do not apply to join us.

That's what I love about MMO'S today, the feeling of community ;)

Naw mate you got it dead wrong it's because of the community that I would not want him in, if there is one thing we do is try build a social guild based on the community, cheats are never good to have in ever.

Not that I disagree with your sentiment but leveling on the space stuff is hardly crime of the century. He was also up front about it. I think it points more to the fact it was a boring part of the game. Personally I would have skipped it not wanting to risk a ban, plus cheating at games imo is a bit pointless. It's the hackers in things like BF4 that annoy me. I'm either very bad, they have the reactions of gecko sized ninja or they're cheating :)

I'd also say cash shops are akin to cheating on MMO'S hence why I'd love an old school subscription MMO to play where everything is earned, but it may be some time before I get that wish!

Er except you got it wrong he did not level his space only it levels your character, so got his character to max level by cheating (especially as you get huge XP for doing Space missions)

I know I take a hardline view on it, but I truly believe cheating is a mindset that does not change.

And not going to comment again on this, as these discussions tend to go south very fast.

Cheating and exploiting is not welcome in swtor, however there are some guilds in swtor who are always looking for new exploits, you will find the majority of these guilds on thee empire side...

However let me know your character name so i can add you to my block list.

Wouldn't mind picking this up again and starting fresh. My account was protected by an authenticator on my phone but I didn't get the recovery code when I swapped phones.

Going to have to call them to get it removed I guess. Anyone else had to do this? Probably won't be able to remember the secret questions either.

Im glad some people feel the way i do about cheating. I see so many cheaters online atm im starting to wonder if theres any honest players left out there.
