Rimworld - strategy base building sci-fi indie game

Oh.....OK

IMO the game has been close to complete for well over a year and has been well worth the 100s of hours I have poured into it. I genuinely feel that you have missed out waiting for its full release
Surely not missed out on anything? Just delayed experiencing it so that instead of piecemeal he can experience the full thing.

I mean you know exactly what I meant but are being pedantic.... at least I hope.
Nope not being pedantic. You said "he's missed out" and he plainly hasn't missed out on anything at all. I'm not questioning your choice of words which would be pedantry. I'm saying I disagree with the idea those words are very clearly expressing.

Additionally, so-called "early access" is pretty much destroying the concept of buying a finished, bug-free (within reason) game, and something I view as extremely bad for gaming in general.

Not to mention the games that fold during early access. Or the bugs you'll have to face.

Etc, etc. So I don't think people like him (and me) who wait for proper release are missing out on anything. Except playing an unfinished, potentially bug-ridden game.

I mean this is a great case of early access tbh, it was worked on and refined for a long, long time, a more sinister developer would have jumped it to version one and called it a day three years ago, but I can't fault anyone for being wary of early access even in cases such as this.

I played it a lot in early access, even before it went on to steam and now I can't be bothered to start a game. Maybe I should have waited until full release!

I was like this for ages but reinstalled 1.0 and managed to push past it. Animal husbandry is so hard. Always running out of food so I gave up and sent them all to the freezer to die. When I start again I'm going to run a pig farm and feed them all the corpses from the raiders I kill. That is until I find a psychopath that doesn't mind chopping up corpses for the leather.

Also witnessed my doctor save a chick with frostbite. I thought he might prioritize the last med pack for his wife who was bleeding out but nope, straight to the starving chicks lol.

Struggling to get into this. I don't seem to get very far before something kills off my budding colony forcing me to start again. I suspect I just don't have the patience for it.

Tried the Chillax one. As I say I think the problem is more likely to be with me rather than the game itself. Just can't summon the willpower to start over every time a rabid squirrel kills my doctor.

Annoyed with myself, was having a very solid run, had a crashed toxic ship, and just shot it without preparing. Lost my main 2 medics, big mess etc. I could probably recover the colony, but might have another go from the start (not yet though).

Think I went challenge and Cassandra (that's the normal one right).

Yup those are the essentials. Year one is really just about healroot, rice and cloth (maybe trees if your map isn't overloaded) to get you started.

A good medic and a decent shot are desirable but as long as your pawns aren't literally incapable of those functions they can suffice until you can get bigger and start looking towards specialists.

The big one early on when a scratch can mean infection and death and all you have is some standard clothes, don't be afraid to hide; be it from a mad animal or a raid, let them loot, let the animal bang on the doors until the manhunter status goes away. It might be bad to let them torch your ricefield and steal your tables, but it's worse to lose a pawn during that critical first year, as per the Martian "Solve one problem, then the next one and the next"

Do we think this'll hit sales soon? I wish I'd bought in early access but was always too foolish.
It seems like it's probably worth full price, but don't want to buy it now and see it in the sale tomorrow.
