RIP Gene Hackman

Brilliant actor, could watch him in anything and he never once seemed to just "phone it in" on any role he took.

Just realised it was also his wife and dog. Well if the police aren't saying it's suspicious then it must be something like a suicide pact (carbon monoxide would probably count as suspicious). RIP to them all.

Just heard this on the news, him, his wife and dog does point to something like Carbon Monoxide but such a shame, unfortunately as I get older so do all the great actors who I grew up watching RIP
True.... Clint Eastwood is 94 now so I guess he might be next. One thing is for sure, given Clints huge list of movies as both actor and director , they will need to set aside a few months if they do a tribute season to him on tv

RIP Legendary actor.

95. Suicide or accident i guess will come to light but its a good age.
Im guessing some kind of suicide Pact as weird as that is, either way it doesn't matter :(

i will be sad to see Clint go but David Attenborough will be the one who i will be most sad to see go.

That being said..... with all of these people, they have all had amazing lives with a better innings than most of us could ever dare to hope for. Once you get to your late 80s or 90s imo a funeral really can be a celebration of their lives.

Michelle Trachtenberg also died yesterday, looks like complications after a liver transplant.

which despite not being as big a name is probably a far bigger tragedy as she was so young.

Very sad news, I liked him as an actor. But eventually everybody's clock has to stop ticking.

I think this sums up his frame of mind - he's simply had enough:
"It really costs me a lot emotionally to watch myself on-screen. I think of myself, and feel like I'm quite young, and then I look at this old man with the baggy chins and the tired eyes and the receding hairline and all that."
Gene Hackman and his wife found dead at their home - BBC News

:(

And the dog.

Carbon monoxide perhaps?

Must be some sort of gas leak or suicide pact; but gas leak is most likely given the dog is dead too

Really surprised these rich people don't have basic carbon monoxide monitors, they're cheap and easy to install along with smoke detectors; really not much excuse for dying to smoke and gas leaks with all the fancy sensors and alarms that are relatively cheap

jesus, did not see that one - very very sad and 39 is absolutely no age at all. but just goes to show, money, fame etc mean nothing to the reaper. RIP to Michelle too. I was a bit of a closet Buffy nerd back in the day (i was just a tad too old to openly admit being a fan without getting the utter crap ripped outta me by my mates)

I was shocked to hear this. MrsHB wondered if it was something like monoxide or something. Surely suicide at 95 is a bit…weird?

Loved him in so many films, as said Crimson Tide, The Firm, etc.
