RIP Metric System

I seem to remember a certain US fast food chain introducing a 1/3lb burger... the idea bombed because people thought a quater was larger than a third.
:cry::D

Somebody claimed money was being diverted - Ive seen no evidence so assume its a hypothetical rant..

Interesting strawman. The only person who has used the word "diverted" in this thread is you, so now you're even getting confused who you are arguing with

It's not a difficult concept to grasp that if you have a limited pot of money then spending some of it on A means you have less to spend on B, C and D

Given the govt is giving everyone £400 in October I think the concept of a pot is largely irrelevant. How much is this costing?

…it is when what they are ‘guilty’ of is so unbelievably pathetic as being in a room with people singing happy birthday..
Ahh sorry I forgot you are that gullible that you believe that's all he did, "ambushed by cake" LOL!

But irrespective of that, whether the rules themselves were pathetic or not, he created them, he told the rest of the country to follow them, hence why it's expected he's held to a higher standard.

The same way many people in professional jobs are held to a higher standard and would lose them over matters that are more trivial for other people. But for some reason you seem to enjoy being taken for a fool by the people running the country, it's a trait I don't understand with Brexiteers.

Anyway, this consultation will go nowhere, nothing will change as nothing needs to change, and it'll be a waste of time and money, like a lot of things Boris has dreamt up in his career.

N111ck is the type of person who would tell us were looking right when we are in fact looking left.

Just put him on ignore honestly at this point all he does is post contrary opinions to troll people.
Ah so only one opinion is valid? Put me on ignore and stick to SC then.

Proves my point about this really being about brexit. Thanks

Well I for one use both imperial and metric and don't really care who uses what, because I can roughly convert one to the other. I guess this is because I was taught in school based on the metric system while everyone else outside school was imperial.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting that vibe. He's obviously not an idiot since his posts are well constructed, but the arguments are so poorly thought out and illogical that it's difficult to actually take seriously

Well, there goes any very weak argument that Imperial measurements might have one minor plus - that they might aid an understanding of fractions.

Guess not!

Definition of idiot noun from the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary

  1. (informal) a rude way to refer to somebody who you think is very stupid synonym fool
    • When I lost my passport, I felt such an idiot.
    • What idiot pressed the switch?
    see also village idiot

They could just print both, like most places already do.. for example you buy a pc monitor in inches, but OCUK list the metric too.

That's probably an easy example, because I'm used to things like tv screens and planks of wood being imperial, but for most things metric is better and really is the way forward.

I bet you'd cry your eyes out if some random on the internet called you an idiot lol

Or maybe legislate so that the most appropriate could be used for a given scenario.

I think you need to re-examine reality, the reality is a lot of people use both systems in certain scenarios, with metric being the clear logical winner if it absolutley has to be one or the other.

So by all means print the imperial measurement equivelent, like we already do and there is no law to prevent that.
