RIP Mondeo

I thought that you drove your 530 daily? Why the second car?

The 530 is probably his Dad's.

10 years 100k. I asked about the tensioner and was told it didn't need doing on the revised engine but was essential on the silvertop engine. It had the revised engine. Thinking that they were a) Ford and b) Never going to turn down more work unless there was a good reason I trusted them. Never mind.

Seems a very long interval. Is that the original and has it since been revised? I'm sure I've seen 50k/5 years quoted.
Fox;15302139'Thinking Mk3 time.

Are there DMF issues with the rubbishy TDDi engine?
Yes, but there are issues with all the engine options and the DMF, torque is what causes the problems so the best bet would be the 1.8 petrol which is not much worse on fuel than the diesel and with far less to go wrong.

Over 5 years is pushing it for a timing belt change anyway.

Would it be worth sourcing another engine for it although I recall a post where you said the bodywork was starting to look a bit ropey.

The belt itself is still fine, but meh. Hindsight = ignore Ford and change the lot.

No idea really, it was starting to go at both arches anyway and looks quite shabby these days. Sister uses it for work (err I mean I drive it all the time and dont really own a 530i, damn Robbie G and his financed Golf got me) up and down the A38 so I think its probably going to have to be new car time.

No finance on my car. What does the [TW] part of your forum name mean by the way?

Old CS clan I played for when I joined way back in 2000.

I'd remove it from my name but 'Fox' is registered to some chap who posts once every 3 years :p
