He was such a funny character. We often travel to/from the west country and would listen to his radio 2 show on a Sunday afternoon on the way home, always in stitches! He did a lot for animal charities too, a genuine good person
Agreed. So rare to see someone who means so much such a wide audience. i think it’s testament to how sincere, genuine Paul came across whilst having one of the sharpest quickest wits out there!
RIP Paul. Watched this morning this - his tribute to Cilla Black at her funeral https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I5ihZE53hW8 brought a tear to my eye. Hopefully he is reunited with Cilla up in heaven.
I'm very drag-sceptic (I blame it on Danny la Rue and Dick Emery), so never paid much attention to his Lily era stuff. But after he'd given that up and I got to know and enjoy him through the Radio2 show a lot better, I belatedly realised he was a comic genius.
