RIP Paul Walker

considering that walker himself is an experience race driver, i highly doubt this would happen if he was on the wheel.

RIP, i thought it was a load of ****** when it got announced on my FB feed

The driver at the wheel was actually a Porsche Race Cup winner or something, so sounds very experienced.. Just bad luck, obviously brought on by the hooning around, but the hooning was probably something that he normally handled with ease.

Really?

1 = Good
2 = Ok
3 = Terrible
4 = Good
5 = Very Good
6 = Excellent

nonono

1 = one of best
2= ok
3= one of best
4= ok
5=good
6= probably need a second watch to judge

It's not really a racing franchise anymore which is ashame but I guess it's all about money therefore action is the way forward

On a track you have run off is something goes wrong. On road when a tyre goes at those speeds it's pretty much bye bye in something like that. RIP

The thing is some race drivers have difficulty reigning themselves in and adjusting their driving to road cars, he could well have taken that bend in his race car no issue, but in a road car on road tyres (I know it's a supercar but still) it just wasn't going to happen.

For example:

He braked where he would in his F1 car, in a Jaguar S Type. It didn't end well.

Anyway, a sad loss, seemed like a decent person that did good things and he'll be remembered for all the right things hopefully.

Jeeze, the amount of people just stood at the crash site pointing a camera directly in Tyrese Gibson's face as he is clearly breaking down is ridiculous

All to get their footage to put on youtube

Have you ever seen the video of Bam Margera going to the crash site of Ryan Dunn? The reporters/news crew from that station should be strung up. The poor bloke was a absolute wreck yet they kept shoving the camera in his face and asking questions. Leave the damn guy alone :(

Sounds like a video of the actual crash was captured by a couple who thought they were at the set of the FF7 film.

Wow, more RIPs in this thread than the NY rail crash and Glasgow Helicopter crash threads put together.

Do you really need that explaining to you though?

It's human nature.

Paul Walker is somebody people 'know'. They've seen his films and enjoyed his acting. The man in the street has never met him but they do know of him, they have enjoyed what he's done in the world and as a result they have feelings about his tragic death.

The helicopter accident in Glasgow was just as tragic if not more so as it involved entirely innocent people rather than two car nuts who went for a spin in a Porsche. But Mr Average knows nothing of the victims and it will have no effect on anything they do, it becomes just 'bad news' rather than something that they feel has impacted them personally.

Rightly or wrongly this is what shapes how people feel about events like this. The NY Rail Crash is as per the the description above but perhaps even less likely to elicit response becuase it happened on a different continent entirely.

Exactly. It just shows that it can happen to anyone. I guess the only thing good that may come of it is that people have a second thought before giving their car stick.

Rumours are going around about a PS fluid leak that was fixed before the test drive. If this leaked onto a rear wheel then that would be bad times

They were very obviously doing something they shouldn't have been doing, but that makes it no less unfortunate.

It kind of does IMO. While I'm not saying he deserved this, it is a very sad event I also don't buy comments like that... if they'd hit another innocent motorist and that other motorist had been killed while minding his own business, driving safely I'd say that would be a more unfortunate death than people who consciously chose to drive at speed.

Not much of a crumple zone! Nor side impact strength

Oh man! You never really realise just how at risk you are in cars like that, I know it's a tough material but weight saving and positioning is a big gamble. Makes me glad I'm in a big saloon full of safety gear, at least at those speeds I might have a small chance depending on point of impact. How mad were the old school f1 drivers!?
