Risen, out 2 October!

I can't answer the other questions but the don's camp is just north of where you first meet one of his men. Talk to that guy and he should take you most of the way.

I only played a mage, and the mage gets the mandatory basic combat 'training' that both warriors and mages have to do. The 'training' doesnt actually teach you anything though in case you're worried about that.

If you go back to the first Hunter you find on the island (Jan, i believe) talk to him and ask him to lead you to the Don's camp. You'll also get easy xp for following!

There are definitely better necklaces in the game. As a mage, some high resistance amulets were good for me. There are also good warrior amulets too. You can definitely get both types through smithing. A good mage amulet comes through the mage plotline.

Thanks for the replies :)

I hope the hunter isnt dead though, i was chased by 4 wolves and i ran to a couple of npcs near the starting area and subsequently they all died :( Wolves then chased me down the road and mauled me to death. At least it wasnt that damn boar this time ><

forgot to mention i get 50-100fps with the above settings. Im really dissapointed i cant force vsync though =/ Seems to be the norm with games these days e.g deadspace and red faction guerilla

I found a fantastic review for the game here, well worth a read for a few chuckles. I particularly like the attention invested in the closing statements:

Risen is an RPG experience fixed in a medieval world, unfolding over four interesting chapters.Risen is an RPG experience lay down in a medieval world, unfolding over four absorbing chapters.Risen is an RPG experience fit in a medieval world, unfolding over four interesting chapters.

Is there a way to switch to first-person view? I've heard rumors about some command line switch. but nothing definite.

If it's third-person only, I'm not going to get it, but first-person view'll have me in a store inside the hour.

FPS will severely hamper you when fighting opponents who like to surround you and flank attack.

Yeah, if you type the following minsky really fast and press enter, you enable the console.

Then type help and it'll list the commands you can use and i'm pretty sure there is a First Person view.

The first person view can bug parts of your game ive heard.

I've just completed this game. The build up is amazing, so many sidequests.. the ending has to be one of the most dissapointing ever though, along with the end boss. If youre expecting something epic then be prepared to be dissapointed as it is no where near as good as journey to get to that point. Its like they gave up on the final quest and boss and said "**** it" we done most of it and thats good enough.

just got this: Made the mistake of going to harbour city first (and thereby avoiding bandit camp) as i was wanting to side with the inquisition to go down the mage path.

So now im in HC and it seems quite a few of the quests either need quite a bit of money to complete (ie the various artificats quests) or you have the option of fighting them and im basically level 2 or 3.

Any tips to get some money without having to beat up half the townsfolk? Its the same with skill leveling i can only afford the +1 str and dex +1stuff cant afford lockpicking, swordfighting etc increases atm.

Just seems that the quest givers are getting me to do stuff that im not at a skill level to do e.g. stealing and stuff.
