Risen, out 2 October!

Anyone else encountering this problem?

****** MINI SPOILER ALERT ******

I'm in the Eastern Temple and have used the three busts to get through the gates, and have passed the spike traps.

I am now trying to get through a doorway which is directly underneath the shining green "Difficult cupboard".

However, every time I try to walk through the doorway, I teleport back to the outside of that cupboard. I don't mean like its a spell effect or anything like that, more like a glitch where I just appear.

Is this a bug or am I supposed to put something in the cupboard?

Thanks

*** Update - Pretty certain this is a bug, fired an arrow at a skeleton warrior through the door, as he ran at me he 'clipped' up to the next floor...

Use the levitation scroll and fly through the door.

People are talking about this Gothic 3, I couldn't be bothered opening a thread about it.

Is it good? I can get it for £3 apparently.

Sold! Plus the community seems to have done a lot of work.

It will tide me over till risen is a little cheaper.

Just a couple of tips for anyone playing this:

1. Don't eat or sell any of the herbs you gather. Save them until you have alchemy and the decent recipes. Especially the ones that add +1 strength, dex or hitpoints etc.

2. When you make the +5 potions, you might want to hold off drinking them right away because as soon as you hit 100 points in a stat you cannot train anymore in it. Buy all those stats first and then drink the potions (also remember to take any amulets or rings off before getting training if you are close to 100). Of course the downside of this is you don't get the benefit from them throughout the first half/two thirds of the game.

3. Hold on to all those teeth, wings, bones, and other stuff you pickup from kills (get the skinning training early on, along with the tools for it). Most of them are used in creating scrolls and often are needed for quests. You can sell then skins though if you've already done Harbourtown.

4. Don't bother with smithing right at the start. Only get it when you can afford to get 3/3 as there is only really an amulet and couple of rings worth making (and you can't make them until you have some real good gems which you really need Prospecting for). Same kind of goes for alchemy, as its nearly as cheap to buy the smaller potions. Definitely worth getting for the higher level ones though.

Nah, I got smithing very very early (like level 2-3), and it allowed me to make a sharp sword which did considerably more damage than anything else I could buy/wield.

I've found that it's best to eat all the stat boosting herbs that you do not plan to specialise in.
For example, for a pure strength warrior, eat all the hitpoint, dex herbs when you get them. Save your +1 str herbs for the potions. The reason for eating the others is that all the +stat potions need a hero's crown, which you won't have enough of. So you may as well boost up your dex and hp when you can.

Also, i can still train mana, and i've got 200+ mana right now. I guess the 100 limit is only for actual stats like str and dex, but not hp and mp.

I also recommend that all classes max alchemy! The +5 stat potions are a must.

Had this game since last Saturday. Big fan of the Gothic series so I am really enjoying this game. It is one of the few games that I can remember playing where I totally lost track of time.

Found one bug so far though, I am asked to find a person that is sat right next to the quest giver.

What frame rates are you getting ?

Mine keeps dropping right down to 15 outside in the open space or when there's a fight. in caves it's 120fps :o

That is already with shaddow on low, shader on medium. if I have everything on high it's unplayable.

Haven't measured my frame rates but with everything on high, 16AF @ 1920x1200 have noticed any slowdowns/stuttering at all.

60 FPS constant everywhere, with forced improvements through Nvidia control panel.

I tried to play this demo but its a slide show lol

9fps on high
13fps on medium
19fps on low.

my X1800XT is showing its age i think, anyone play this on a 8800GT?

Tried the demo and liked it. Only annoyance is the fact you can't change mouse sensitivity, it's a bit high for me, but still playable. Hopefully this will be added in a patch.
