Risen, out 2 October!

Tried the demo and liked it. Only annoyance is the fact you can't change mouse sensitivity, it's a bit high for me, but still playable. Hopefully this will be added in a patch.

The way to do this is posted on most of the dedicated Risen forums, it can be changed via a config file edit.

I tried to play this demo but its a slide show lol

9fps on high
13fps on medium
19fps on low.

my X1800XT is showing its age i think, anyone play this on a 8800GT?

What res are you running at? Can get around 25-30fps on 1280x960 with most settings on high here with a crappy 3650 which is worse than a 8800GT.

Ok just bought this and have went mage . Now when you arrive u do basic training . Killed the first 2 guys but just have the main guy left and i cant beat him . Im only lvl 2 15 str and staffs lvl 2 . Any tips clues. ?

SPOILERS IF ANYONE DOESN'T WANT TO READ THEM

Get a 'jest' scroll and cast it on the blacksmith.

Go into the arena to start the fight, then leave it immediately. Go ask other novices about how to beat him, there should be one that will sell you both normal wine (get 2) and special 'mage wine' (I think he's round the back by the pigs). Follow the quest-line on from here, get the "worst sword in the world" from the smith when you can, then go talk to Aric again. If you follow the right dialogue choices you'll get to give him two bottles of normal wine, then the mage wine, and then swap his special sword for the 'worst' one. He should be much easier to beat now.

Level two does sound a bit low at this point in the game though. Did you do many quests in Harbour Town? You must have at least done the one for Belshwur (sp?) if you're becoming a mage (rather than a warrior of the order) and the others for the Order to be allowed to leave, but there are tons more around.

Didnt go to harbour town.. went straight to the monastery . And have the special wine and 1 bottle of normal (never knew it was part of the quest ) but i got someone to swap his job (10 apples) so he aint there anymore to buy the wine :(

Also i have looked for said scroll but found none and doubt i can buy one Also i guess i cant do the "worst sword" unless i can speak to the blacksmith

Latest review, one of the only ones on the PC version and IGN gave it 8.6 or something, happened to spot it yesterday.

It is a quality game, I think they mentioned it crashing once/twice, I didn't get a single one and only one/two bugs throughout, the worst one being that misnamed guy at somestage for a quest is a bit poo.

Help needed!

**SPOILER**

So my first run of the game will be a standard fighter role going the swamp route.

I've done pretty much every quest in the town (lvl 4 now I think), and all that is left is beating Brogan in the arena.

I have a strength of 20, Swords lvl 2, machete, normal shield, and the scroll of protection from the farmer.

I can't seem to win, no matter what I try, even when rinsing all my health potions.

Any tips?

Game runs smooth as maxxed out at 1920x1080 :D

Little tip, there is a bug in the game where mobs dont defend and only single swipe attack when you get there backs against a wall ;)

Best way to make money is to learn gutting and buying the items to get tropheys from your kills. This will add a much needed income, also dont be shy of stealing or pickpocketing, you don't have a moral compass in the game and most of the time if the NPC doesn't see you enter there house, you can plunder it dry.

Yeah, got gutting and my skinning knife and rotworm tooth chisel, though am I correct in the feeling that mobs don't respawn?

Best way to make money is to just rob everyone blind :p

I just got promoted to Captain by the Don. Got new armour and made myself a nice obsidian ******* sword. I think the Horn Bow's gona take over as my main weapon now though, most creatures drop dead by the time they reach me.

The only real irritation is that its often faster to jump everywhere, rather than run, so I was a bunnyhopping fool for far too much of the game.

So true. I've just learnt scroll making and stocked up on a ton of speed scrolls to alleviate this. Teleport stones help as well when you eventually get hold of them.

I've been enjoying this game. I chose to go to the harbour town at the start and ive been doing quest after quest after quest. I think ive pretty much cleared them all out apart from visiting the guy to get my mage training.

I have too much money and not enough experience points! I just pickpocket and rob people blind without them realising :P

Combat can be a little annoying, im level 6ish and boars/bees/wolves just completely tear me apart :S I think the difficulty needs a little balancing...

The game itself runs extremely smoothly at 1920x1200 with 8xaa and max settings ingame. I'm on an ati 4890 with a core2duo o/c to 3.2ghz

Got a few qs tho if anyone can help.

Is it possible to get both mage training and fighting training?

Where on earth is the camp the don is in? I know its in a swamp and ive gone running through the wilderness but im unable to find it.

Can i keep the dons amulet without and negative side effects? Or is there a better neck piece further on in the game?
