RMA problem. Please please help

Ok what else can i do? Ocuk arent answering my cs forum thread. Had to make a formal. complaint to have them tell me nothing was wrong. Any more advice?

I have already tested at friends house. His computer was built by a reliable brand. I have completely rebuilt computer and flashed bioses to latest etc. I got a new cpu cooler. I did use ccc to monitor my temps. I then used afterburner. As far as i am aware afterburner is fine to work with my card. I actually did have artifacts at a couple of points in benchmarks. All my card died for different reasons out of my control. I didnt manage to get to the bit with the artifacts as the card kinda died if you recall. I have built many systems. It just seems to be mine that keeps screwing up.

Not jumping on the "you can't build PCs, stop trying" band-wagon, but the common factor here is you.

You've had an official response from HIS saying to return the card, so why haven't you? If you really do have an official reply from them, show it to overclockers and they should return the card - the manufacture's word surpasses the retailer's at the end of the day. Or if overclockers refuse, send it yourself.

I have returned the card. I will contact HIS again and make sure that i get a proper reply from them because this reply wasn't very convincing. I did tell OcUK that Hs told me to RMA but their testing is all that matter :(

Read up on the sales of goods act and understand what you are entitled to and what the supplier is entitled to.

I have been doing that. The card clearly isn't fit for purpose. However, ther is still major discrepancy between my results and OcUK's.

Had to look PEBCAK up. Thanks (sarcastic). But i truly believe that it is not me. I have not OC'd the card (or anything for that matter) and the product is inherently faulty. HIS said so. I have asked them to clarify that it is a card problem. Will probably RMA all the way to China. :(

Oh, BTW - CCC stopped recognising the card when i put it back into my system today. DPD left my card on the other side of my LOCKED gate as i was not home. They clearly chucked it over (judging by damage to packaging and angle it was at) and it was left there for 9 hours. I thought it would be DOA.

I have been tinking about that. I would really like it though if ocuk will be kind enough to give me a £250 voucher if HIS confirm what i think is the problem. Do you think the amount sounds about right? How much do yiu think a comouter place would give me?

Thought so. Will try getting HIS to back me up. Otherwise will go to some computer shops and ask them to test for me and send results to ocuk

If it was me, I would try diplomacy first with OC. Sometimes speaking to a manager calmly and explaining the problem is often a positive move. Tell them you had high hopes and are upset that the item does not do what you were led to believe it should have done from the description". Explain the steps you have taken, including their testing and say that you are still not satisfied and Infact you are very unhappy, which you clearly are.

I would think that for a card OC are not going to make too much of an issue over it especially when they have this huge forum.

If that approach does not provide you with satisfactory resolution then you have the option to write to the managing director, explain what has happened and say that the card is a) Not fit for the purpose it was advertised to do, b) Has not lasted a sufficient life span c) was sold with an inherent issue that you were not made aware of at the time of sales.

Sometimes persistence pays off. Be polite, calm but firm and in a lot of cases, being a pain in the butt to a stubborn supplier usually pays off because its cheaper to give you what you want than to keep paying their staff to constantly spend time dealing with you.

Yes, i think i'll ask to speak to a manager. I did make a complaint which should have gone to a manager but they said the same thing the techs said. I haven.t even OC'd the card so therefore have done nothing to void the warranty. TBH, i really don't think anyone really cares about this problem which is truly disappointing seeing as the main reason i buy EVERY single new graphics card from OcUK is their CS.

RMA'ing stuff to OC can be a total nightmare, the support dept appears to assume all its customers are morons who wouldnt think to try the obvious fixes before returning stuff.

true, but last time i RMA' my card it was pretty quick. Sadly, my faith in OCUK is diminishing as my nightmare card lives on in my case.

Ok, tried card in all the different PCIe slots on ALL my mobos. Same problem. I put a 8800GTX in and it runs fine. To add insult to injury, the 8800 is a Dell one with a substandard cooler.

If getting a 2nd opinion proves the card is faulty, and OC have declined to offer a full refund or exchange (which you are entitled to decide on which you want, not the supplier, plus you can reject a repair), you are also entitled to what is known as consequential losses. That is any costs associated with the card.
Testing fees, postage costs, cost of any additional hardware you purchased with the card that would be for use with the card etc.

Thanks, will try.

How did DPD get a signature from you if they chucked it over the gate. If i am out they can't deliver and post a card saying they will try again the next working day. If they did this to me i would phone overclockers and ask where my graphics card is as i have not received it.

Your parcel has been delivered, signed for by LEFT BEHIND LOCKED SIDE GATE, on 14 Jan 2011 at 12:37

That was from DPD site

Call me Mr Cautious if you wish, but I am not sure I would be suggesting defrauding a company on the company's own discussion forum mate. Even hypothetically, it just feels a bit rude, you know? :)

Didn't mean to slander OcUK's good name - just their delivery company

I used them 2 years ago do get out of an orange 24 month cintract and i got to keep the phone simply because orange were ******* with me. For all of you with "i devices" i would get the which? Your rights app as it is free and has really good advice on it. Will be writing a detailed letter to ocuk tomorrow. Hopefully i wont have to go as far as a small claims court. My cards perfornance is currently in 8800gtx territiry. Low. The most dissapointing thing is that ocuk havent made a " goodwill" gesture yet. Whneve i have had a problem with expensive goods i have gotten one. Got a second opinion on my card. A friend tested it out and i told him that my psu broke so it was impartial. He said it was hot and that i got ripped. He said it jokingly but i am ****** cos hes right. I should certainly get a refund fir my delivery fee as it was truly appaling. Ah well, hopefully ocuk will finaly sort thus iut for me. Will be getting the geek squad to check it out tomorrow. I wonder if anyone wirking at ocuk is actually reading this.
