You are correct, I have them in 26 x 1.35 and they fit the rims just fine. They grip very well in the wet, in my experience. I got them for £10 each from Planet-X, though unfortunately they don't seem to have any left. The City Jet are pretty nearly slick, and would be an improvement over the standard semi-knobbly ones.

Going for Specialized Fat Boy 1.25s and some skinny inner tubes...similar vein to the Kojaks, but in stock all over the place. £17 ea. @ Evans. Thanks.

No but the 3000m of climbing might.

Also just realised I left my 28 cassette at home and only brought the 25.
In either case, I hope you feel strong tomorrow! :)

Joking aside, I hope you have a great time in spite of the weather.

Going to post this in here as I dont go off road but have mtb frame

Another 10.4 miles polished off this afternoon on bike, 45.7 miles in 4 days, chill out day tomorrow

Can anyone recommend a good book for bicycle maintenance? I need a book that explains clearly how to maintain road bikes, with lots of pictures.

I've heard good things about both the Park Tools Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair (retails at around £20) and Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance.

I have neither at the moment because I've already spent too much money :(

Finished the Norwich 100 in 5hr51 riding time, 7hr26 total time :D. Really enjoyed it and was much easier than I expected (probably due to the extended rest times thanks to my riding partner - he decided that crawling up hills at 6mph was 'fine' using his high gears and then got cramp by the half way point where we spent 1hr20 for some unknown reason.)

Hi guys,

Im planning on fitting in an interval training session or two during my lunch breaks during the week, so I'm looking for a few tips. I think I've located a 1mile stretch of quiet road near my work place to do it. How long should I be warming up for? How long should I exert myself almost flat out for? How long should my rest period be? Lastly, how many sets?

Much appreciated if someone can help.

Wondered why my chain was slipping going up the hill

3 teeth missing on the third sprocket : /

Anyone know of a cheap hard wearing cassette? Not bothered about the weight.

Just ordered the following from Wiggle in a bid to improve my Carrera Subway's road performance:

2 of Continental Ultra Gatorskin Mountain Bike Tyre (26 x 1.125)
3 of Continental Quality MTB Inner Tube (26x1.1 1.3 (OptC))
1 of Genuine innovations Presta Valve Adapter
1 of dhb R1 Road Cycling Shoe (46) (black)
1 of Shimano PD-M520 Pedals (Silver)

Total delivered £127. Never used SPD or any other cleat system for that matter...should be interesting! Current tyres are 1.6" semi-knobblies, the Continentals are 1.125" and slick. Hope they fit then I can set about improving my 17.5mph average on the way to work.

Asprilla, Looking forward to your review, had a mate who did the 120km (75 miles) in 4.5 hours. Although not super fast the hills sounded epic.
He said that everyone stopped when the rain started putting on gillets, changing glasses etc. his words "I just used my mtb skillz and pushed on overtaking everyone on the decent, what danger could there be its only a road with no gap jumps" he then said "ummm but the brakes are rubbish though"
