Anyone know when full Ultegra 6800 will be available? Merlin have the wheels and you can buy the shifters from wiggle, but that's it....

It's pretty much due within the next couple of weeks so stock should start showing up in most places asap:

etc..

Will wait to see what sort of price a complete set comes out to be.

I'm guessing 650 w/o wheels or 900 with plus VAT perhaps.

Ultegra 6700 is about 450 and 200 more for the wheels plus VAT. I'm expecting a jump with it being new out.

I'm fairly sure on getting the 52/36 chain rings with 11-25 or 53/39 and 11-28, but will have to compare the ratios between the two.

Fair enough. I know it's not a competition or anything serious, but I'm not keen on getting lost and stranded in Suffolk. I guess I should stop worrying, what's the worst that could happen?

Drop me your mob#, and we can meet up before setting off. I'm sure you'll find our pace is fine, we have one "hardcore" triathlete, but the other 3 are just hoping to get to the finish line before our bodies shut down.

your chain snaps and get's wrapped up in your spokes leaving you stranded and to top it all off your mobile phone is broken from the fall and there are no cars or houses in sight.
unfortunately you were at the very back off the pack so it's a long walk to find help for you. ;)

Or worse, a policeman stops you for having a non-compliant rear light

Was planning a rest day today, got plenty of real 'work' done though and legs feel OK for a steady spin so thinking of Drubbing Dundry for 3k ft this evening then trying to decide whether to hit Exmoor tomorrow or back to Brecon & the black mountains?

Thanks for the words of encouragement, gentlemen ;)

Just don't do what my friend did last year and head straight to the pub for several pints then be one of the last to set off! :D Also take plenty of your own food as the 'feed stations' get packed and run out quickly. The # cyclists on the ride will blow your mind.

I was thinking of taking filet mignon in my left jersey pocket and sauce béarnaise in the center one. I imagine that'd get me through the night.

As for the right jersey pocket; that's reserved for a spare inner tube, which I won't be eating.

Just a heads up to anyone looking for Shimano pedals, Halfords doing an offer till tomorrow, 20% off on top of whatever price they've got at the checkout.

Halfords

E.g. SPD-SL PDR540 is currently £21.95 - 20% = £17.56 (pick up free)

Not too shabby.

Looks like my Aldi shoes gave up on me - couldn't unclip my self on a ride - almost had an accident. One of the threads wore out and the bolt dropped, leaving me with my main balancing foot stuck (left).

Anyway, looking to get a pair of Shimano SPD compatible shoes and seeing as Halfords on offer for all things Shimano, including new cleats, anyone have experience with Shimano shoes? If I'm a size 9, do I get exact fit or a size up?
