ive seen it recommend a few times and i bought the intro bottle but couldn't decide which one i should i use all the time. Is the high5 4:1 better?

Electrolyte stuff is good to stop dehydration, cramp. Carb stuff good for long rides to hopefully let you keep going for longer. High5 4:1 is carbs and adds a little bit of protein to help with recovery. It depends how long your going to be out for - if you're just out for an hour or so, take water :p much longer and I'd have 2 bottles, one with Electrolytes/Salts and one with a carb drink. I prefer the Summer Fruits by FAR but this is personal taste.

The Rose would still be my "best" bike. I just want something geared I don't mind commuting on or riding during the winter/bad weather hence originally looking at the Ribble 7005. However, those bargain deals on the Basso and Cinelli are hard to resist! Pics would be good cheers.

I'd then sell the Charge and use the Pearson single-speed for every day duty.

I planned to do some laps of RP on the way home so took the Rose to work but it is just way too hot so I went straight home. A hot cyclist chick complimented my bike... I feel validated and aroused.:D

just a quick snap i did at the weekend. not the best camera i'll take some more probably this weekend

The heat today really didn't lend itself to climbing up hills

4 consecutive days, 4 rides and challenge completed :D

1 - 67.6mi, 6900ft
2 - 47.7mi, 5528ft
3 - 27.5mi, 3284ft
4 - 60.7mi, 8379ft - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/343987223
Total: 24091ft/7343m

Recovery time :D
Wow, nicely done! The 'hills' I have here is 200ft, will take me awhile. If I can hit 25%, I'd be more than pleased. Rep a local steep hill 3 times and felt good. Need to actually hit my first 1000ft in a single ride yet!

Haribo are excellent for mid to end ride. And they don't weigh a lot :p

If you can source our "Juicy Gold Bears", that's got higher juice content which makes it softer and much easier to chew and swallow whilst riding. Or so I've noticed since testing them on a few of my longer rides.

Hoping someone can give me some pointers regarding my rear tyre. I had a puncture yesterday and I fear I may have cycled too far on it when it was under inflated.

Today I replaced the inner tube with a new one. When I inflated it to 100psi I noticed it was no longer true, there seemed to be a bulge around the valve which now fouls on the brake pads.

I didn't have time to start again but I suspect I'll cause my damage if I ride on it with the bulge.

Have I somehow damaged the tyre itself or has the tube become twisted or not installed correctly?

Did you do up the valve nut before pumping up the tube? You should always put the tube in the tyre and get the tyre seated properly before you start pumping it up. When it's at pressure, then do up the valve nut. If you do up the nut before everything is seated, then the tube won't be right up inside the tyre and will cause it to bulge out.

Yes I did do the nut up before, sounds like that this is what happened.

Can I save the tube or has it deformed permanently?

It should be fine. Undo the valve nut, let the tube down and then press the valve into the tyre from the rim a bit to get the tube way up into the tyre. Make sure the tyre is seated properly on the rim, then refill the tube and see how it looks. If it's OK, then you can do up the nut.

If the tyre doesn't sit comfortably, just take everything back off the rim and put it back on again, just to make sure you're not catching anything.

Hey Damien, remember how I said Matchmoor Lane, where we went last night, was the highest you could get round our way?

I was wrong.

Cat 2 climb (albeit with a descent in the middle to take in Foxholes!) going up to 1400 feet. Over 300 feet higher than we got to last night.

There's a few routes you can start from, actually, but the key bit is getting to the top of Foxholes and on from there. If I were doing it, I'd probably go up Chorley Old Road from the roundabout near the Barn, turn left at the top of Chorley Old Road and work from there, rather than doing Foxholes which would destroy me before I'd even got to the fun bit. Here goes, this looks like a good one.

It shall be climbed. Oh yes, it shall be climbed.

I might try that Saturday morning, actually, if I feel like I'm up to it.

Thanks, I saw the edge of the tyre had pinched the tube causing the bulge. Your explanation made sense. Looks like I pinched it more than expected and split it. Good way to learn I guess, thanks for your help!
