It would be a discontinued model that was worth £999 at retail but my invoice would show £699. So surely the insurance would pay out based on my invoice and not what the bike was originally worth. Even though technically the cost to replace for a similar level of bike is £999.

i don't think they give a turd about the invoices.. if you insure it as a bike thats worth 1k to you you will pay more monthly too.. so if it gets stolen/eaten you'll be able to get 1k payout because thats how much you paid for you insurance.

might be wrong tho... how would i insure my custom bmx then? :o

Just found out I won a set of the below wheels in a bikeradar competition!

Over the moon!! :)

I would have thought you would have to declare any modifications that take it above the original retail value?

If they didn't care about invoices I could just insure my fictional £5000 Canyon Ultimate CF SLX and say it got stolen!:D

yeah but then you'd be paying the monthly price for that 5k worth of bike and would also need to have crime ref number from police etc :o:D

Yeah but what if it got nicked only 1-2 months of my pretend ownership. Also, if I'm willing to commit insurance fraud what is a bit of lying to the Po-Po!:p

Anyway, I'd still like a proper answer so I'll just ask the insurance company!

Needed to marry some bits together for street use. Specifically this Russian fork + this Italian caliper:

Add a bit of WD40 and some pillar drill:

It's pretty close with a 23c tyre. The brake blocks have to be right at the top of that caliper and only just land on the rim :D

It's a sad case, and I and want to avoid using any positive sentiments about it but it's 'good' to see the CPS go for and obtain a conviction of dangerous driving when a cyclist is killed.

It's very rare. They usually settle for careless driving which carries a much lower tariff.
I'm glad.

The court previously heard how McClure was fiddling with her sat nav as she drove along the road and struck married father of two Mr Hilson, 46, of Conygree Close, Lower Earley.
That almost brought tears to my eyes, given that my situation could be exactly the same in 17 years time. What consolation is any sentence for his wife and children?

I get on my bike every day and will continue to do so, but it's bloody sobering.

The testimony was that at 60mph she would have needed to be looking at the Sat Nav for 18 seconds without looking up in order to not see him. There were no skid marks on the road.

She claimed she was doing 45mph. If that's the case she didn't look up for 24s.

That's beyond words, how can you not look at the road for that period of time. I could barely take my eyes off the road for more than half a second and not be worried about it. Should never be allowed to drive or operate machinery ever again.

Oooo

I wonder what this could be!!

;)
