wouldn't have the clearance for 29 er wheels so no :P

anyway I'll get a road bike when I stop cycling in jeans and I'm a bit fitter :D

jeans are awesome.. its just those lycra boys trying to justify their 190quid bib shorts ;)

mind you.. i did it.. i've got lycra on order :(

Right, I'm going to have a go at mixing my own energy drinks - going to pick up some fructose, maltodextrin, caffeine and electrolytes. I've been looking at prices on my protein. Can anyone recommend anywhere cheaper?

I'm about to buy myself some electrolytes to make up my own drinks. I'd be interested to know what people believe to be the advantage of maltodextrin, fructose and the like over caster sugar?

You ordered Lycra?!?!?!?1

I did learn that Lycra as a layer between your skin and tarmac offers 0 protection. I am currently sitting with my left bum/tigh hanging off the chair. If I were in jeans, it wouldn't have been that bad I suppose... but then I probably wouldn't be doing nearly 500miles this Summer, lycra makes cycling so much better.

The difference is that in lycra you lose skin when you fall off but in jeans you lose skin just by pedaling :p

How do you know when your ready to race? im managing to get a KOM on strava now and seem to be in the top 10ish% on most segments, im interested to know how you guys who race, thought they were ready?

You just have to want to do it, make it your goal then give it a go. I'm still getting there but all you need is a BC race license and to turn up for an eligible event then see how you get on, then enter another :)

Joining a local club is recommended though and at the least get used to riding in groups. You can also ask the other guys in the club for advice, tips etc etc.

Have you tried the saddle rails?

I had a saddle that needed an occasional spray of GT85 where the saddle rails joined the saddle.

Took me ******* weeks to figure out that ************.

Given that a go too. Will see how I go in the morning. Forecast minus 4c... Brrrrrr!

Cant decide, maybe that colour scheme if i decide to go 'out there' id like it that colour with a matte clearcoat

I could just go black but i dno

As uniQ said, joining a local club with guys who race is the best way to go. They'll be able to give you a lot of advice and you can join in their training rides to see if you can handle the speed.

Another option is to just go and do it - get a licence and enter a race.
Whats the worst that could happen? You come last? I'v been last a couple of times, it's not that big a deal.

Sucrose is fructose and glucose, so you're kinda halfway there with plain old sugar. I'm not sure of the advantage of maltodextrin over glucose.

I'm just trying to replicate High5 mix, to be honest. I ordered a bunch of stuff last night and I figure that once I factor in bottles of squash it'll cost about 1/3 of the price of buying High5 powders in bulk.
