still needs brake levers but these should come soon.. currently its set up as a fixie but i can't stand fixed gear tbh so its going back to freewheel...

18/48 gearing will be a nice backup bike when my main fails or my brothers..

still a few things to add to complete the paintjob but it'll be a nice and surprisingly comfy bike at the end! :o

guys need help..
have noticed that there is movement between headset and frame.
if it should be stiff and there should be no movement at all, then there is a lot...

on the photo : there is a small gap between frame and headset - you can see it, it all moves.
Vertical line shows which way it all moves..

is that something bad ? how do I tighten in ?
Screw on top of headset is tight and won’t get tighter

Please advise

I've not seen any details of what time period that money is over and whether there any any caveats on how the infrastructure is created.

That kind of money should be coming though every year, not as a one off and if they are just continuing to paint lines on the road 'where there is room' then they may as well burn it.

In other news; single speed commute today for the first time in two years. Such fun.

yeah i agree they need to up what they spend and hopefully after that cycling debate thing in september that will happen. it stands roughly at £2.20 per person per year goes towards cycling across the uk, campaigners and a few mp's have stated they want that raised to £10 per person.

as for how this money will be spent on that video clip theres talk of the leeds liverpool canal and some super higher in yorkshire.

as for the manchester one they are spending it on this http://cycling.tfgm.com/velocity/Velocity2025_Summary.pdf which is their figures are accurate should at least make manchester a less crowded place with cars a little bit. although i still say they need to look at just banning cars from city centres as a whole and ramp up public transport and cycling just to make it less noisey and dirty in towns.

That's the key to it, in my view. Cycling in a city centre is never going to be safe or pleasant while there are cars around. Convincing people to switch to bicycles isn't going to happen while it's still affordable. It's also not practical to cycle into town sometimes; shopping for furniture would be a pain, for example. Still, I doubt they can make matters much worse than they are already.

I got the job!

What do I buy? I've been eyeing up the Rapha Backpack for a long time.:D
Personally if were making a Rapha purchase, I'd get a jersey, but then I am quite partial to a nice jersey. What's the new job? :D

Rapha softshell or hardshell. It's what all the cool kids have.
I'd forgotten about the jackets. Are they really worth the money? The softshell is twice the price of the Gore softshell I have, I find it difficult to see how it could be twice as good.

Everyone piling in to the Ride London ballot then? Getting flashbacks to London Marathon ballot entries and have the same expectation of success (i.e. nil).

Edit: grudas, that single speed is nice. :D Keep it fixed though!

And has anyone tried the Rapha bib longs (either normal or deep winter) and are they worth the price? If not what would you go for?

The Rapha jackets do look very nice, but I currently have waaay too many jackets. I've got a Gore Oxygen softshell, Gore Xenon Softshell, Gore Oxygen Goretex Active Shell and a Campagnolo Silverlight!

New job is very similar to current job (IT monkey) but with a slight salary increase and better long term opportunities.

I entered twice into the ballot then I read the bit in the email that says your entries can be cancelled if you enter multiple times.:o

I'm in. I'll be putting in two entries and then going for a charity place if they don't come off.

I've got the deep winter tights.

Toasty and comfortable. For dry and cold they are my go-to tights (I've got some water resistant Giordana ones and Altura Stealth for when it's biblical).

As they aren't padded and you wear your standard shorts underneath you can get away with wearing them quite a few times before they need washing. I've got several pairs of tights that have their own pads and I now realise this was a mistake.
