Recommend me a winter jacket!

Down into single digits this morning, was about 6c and it certainly felt it!

I had a base, jersey and my rain Gillet on to act as a wind proof and arm warmers. Also had a Castelli wind proof hat on under my helmet which some people took the **** about, but I don't care as my head was lovely and toasty!

Come autumn and winter it will be down to freezing or below so need something to cope with the cold!

Rapha Hardshell/Softshell depending on the amount of layers you want to wear, or how harsh your winters are. I haven't managed to wear the hardshell this year as it's been too warm.

Hmm the soft shell only comes in black!

Hard shell has more colour choice but might be a bit extreme, I won't be riding in snow or rain unless something's gone wrong!

I do like the orange pro team jacket, might go to the Rapha shop and see try on.

Hard/Softshell are totally windproof and totally waterproof, yet breathable due to the vents. Single merino base layer during winter. I honestly have not bought a better piece of clothing than the Softshell. I'm expecting that the Hardshell will get much more useage in the Alps.

I do not have shares in Rapha ;).

Rapha Pro Team Jacket
Rapha Classic Softshell
Castelli Gabba LS
Gore Oxygen or Xenon windstopper softshell.

Rapha Hardshell in the most brutal conditions.

Yeah the Pro Team kit is my fave too.

None of this "relaxed", "casual" or "club" fit bull shizzle. Proper skin tight race fit!

Are there any decent softshells for those of us who don't want to spend £100-200 on a jacket? :p

My Decathlon one is actually pretty awesome given how much I paid for it but I'd like something that is less baggy, more wind-proof and more water-resistant.

Dhb ones from wiggle are highly recommended. Have a look at the Switch, which has zip off sleeves, or the Windslam (currently out of stock apart from XS).

i just wish these companies would make stuff bigger. i have a 56" chest ffs. will be a while before i get a chance to have proper rain gear.

yeah seen them before. they go up to 52.5" and its only a soft shell.

funny you can get shorts that id drown in but tops are a very rare thing.

I got this Castelli jacket in green/black just over 12 months ago, Gore windstopper panels, useable range for me with a short sleeve baselayer or long sleeve depending on temp is 1c - 10c, i havent tried it below zero as i dont normally ride when its going to be frosty/icy.

Very high quality product. I've come off the bike at ~10mph and not a scratch on it and its also nicely shower proof i have found.

How much did it cost you, out of interest? The other Castelli stuff ranges from reasonable to expensive so I'm just wondering what it would compare to (it is no longer available according to the Wiggle site) :)

edit:

Also, any thoughts on the Pearl Izumi stuff? I remember people on here getting them very cheap a while ago and quite liking them. The below ones are semi tempting:
