Kinesis continues its habit of only puncturing when it's parked up for two days. Fine when I put it away, fine when I was in there yesterday, punctured when I need it this morning.

Question for those that own the Castelli Gabba jersey

Which type do use Short Sleeve Gabba with Nanonflex Arm Warmers or the Long Sleeve Gabba?

I've ordered both Jerseys into Evans to try them on but I thinking I'll go for the Short Sleeve Gabba and Nanoflex arm warmers combo for greater flexibility.

Glad to hear you are ok. this cycling lark is turning to be a dangerous past time!

What happened if you don't mind me asking.

Well, we were descending near Leith and going pretty quick - going to cali was in front and went through a corner ahead that i realised late was quite tight so i went to brake. Because I braked I entered the corner a bit later, wheel caught a bit of gravel and the bike just went straight out from under me.

Dusted myself off and figured I should try and ride back over leith hill and head straight back (I was 50km from home) but I realised it would be difficult as my cleat had sheared off from my shoe and my right foot couldn't do anything. Fortunately we weren't far from a train station, so the next idea was to get the train to Ewell or similar and then get back from there. After boarding the train, I noticed blood flowing down my arm. One of the guys suggested I shouldn't look at my elbow, so naturally I did, and suddenly felt rather faint and had to sit down - there was quite a chunk missing from it. We asked the train conductor for help with first aid but despite having a first aid kit on board they weren't being very helpful.

Ended up going all the way to clapham junction, stopping at a drop in clinic where they cleared me up and told me to go and have a bath and then head to a & e as some of the flesh needed chopping out and so on. I had a birthday party to attend in the evening in East London so thought I'd get ready for that and stop off at the royal london hospital a & e to get patched up. Roll on a few hours and I'm waiting in a ward for surgery! Initially one of the plastics doctors thought it could just be sewn up but there wasn't much chance of that as there was nothing to sew together! not sure what they ended up doing but I don't seem to have any flesh missing elsewhere.

Got out yesterday evening - thankfully my dad was coming over anyway as he did the Ride London ride and he picked me up from hospital and is helping me out, it's come at a bad time as my flat is in a complete state at the moment as i've just done up my bedroom and i need to move everything back in but i'm a bit immobile!

I think they use sort of artificial seaweed which promotes skin growth. When I was in hospital a mountain biker did a similar thing but only with his knee.

Least you are OK that's the main thing. Surprising how many injuries there are in cycling. 3 years ago when I first took it up I though it was a fairly safe past time

How long will take to repair itself did they say ?

I have the SS and warmers. A more flexible combo. The Gabba SS is a great piece of clothing. You can wear it in so many conditions without sweating like a rapist or getting cold on descents etc.

****ing wheels why do I always break spokes I'm hardly heavy at 12 stone, 5 spokes on 3 sets of wheels over maybe 7000 miles or is that normal attrition?

What wheels? I have a couple of stone on you and I've never broken a spoke. and I'm an MTBer by birth so not exactly shy about ploughing through potholes

Had tight calfs the last two days, tried to walk it off a bit at work today. Had an easy 40 km which helped a bit too.

Feel fine on the bike, which is strange, I had a long car journey Saturday which might have caused it.

Watched the last two days of the tour of Utah.

Cracking ride by Evans winning the last two stages, he'll have to pick his game up a bit if he wants to be at the front at the Vuelta, Horner gapped him slightly 15 seconds or so and looked comfortable on the last climb and I would expect Horner to top 10 maybe top 5.

Cheers - thats what Im leaning towards too for greater flexbility. Heard so many good things about them!

I don't know if you were aware how wet the RideLondon 100 was yesterday (a boat would have been better than a bike!) but I wore the S/S Gabba with my charity jersey over the top without arm warmers.

I was comfortably warm for the duration of the ride. I did get chilled once I stopped at the end though as the Gabba was soaked and only stayed warm whilst I kept moving.

Chipped paint

So my brand new £1.5k bike has a chip in the white paint after its 3rd ride :mad: small but obviously its all I can see. . . any recommendations for touch up paint. Its a matte finish and is a bout 1-2mm in diameter.

Or am I better kindly asking the mechanic at Evans to check it over when I take it in for its 6 week service.

Change of rim tape required?

Anyone know where I can get hold of one of those bolt adjusted bands you use clamp brake levers to handle bars? I need one to move my brompton gear shifter to 25.4mm bars.

Braved the 25mph wind on the way to work today. There's a long stretch of road, about 5km, mostly flat on the route which I did with a headwind the entire way. Managed to set multiple PRs on Strava! Cycling baffles me sometimes, it really does.

I've taken a couple of weeks off cycling lately as I'm having problems with my right foot. It felt much better so I went out for an hour on Saturday and it started hurting again afterwards. So disheartened at the moment as it seems like just the slightest bit of cycling starts off the pain again, despite it feeling fine beforehand.

:(
