Also, I've resolved my lack of form problem: After looking at diet, over training and mt health in general I found that my rear caliper was stuck causing the pad to constantly rub.

/shame.

I had the bike serviced last week and that included recabling the brakes, you'd think they would have spotted a stuck caliper!
So what you're saying is that you've been averaging 30kph+ on your daily commute with your rear brake on? That's pretty hardcore man ;)

My chain came off twice yesterday, once on the way to work and once on the way home. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I'm going to take it as a sign to get the bike serviced. I should probably get around to learning about how my bike actually works...

:O sucha nice bike.
Its geared a bit short tho isnt it?

Yeah would bump it up to 51/15 first thing if i did get it, quite big for commuting, but as long as i can get up Hampstead hill it's good enough.

That has FCN -1 written all over it. If you rode it you better make sure you were going 100mph everywhere you went!

Actually looking at the FCN calc i wouldn't change from my current FG so that would make me 3+1+1 (beard and baggies)

Punctured the tub on my TT bike today :(
Just 2 miles from the end of a 22 mile 2up, we were on for a pretty good time as well

Is it easy enough to glue on a new tub or should i leave it for someone who knows what they're doing?

From what i've seen/heard it's easy, just time consuming if you want to do it properly as you have to glue and leave to dry a couple of times. TBH i've not seen/done anything to do with bike maintenance that i've thought was particularly hard. Some things are a pain financially because you need the right tools (eg replacing a bottom bracket or headset), but changing a tyre (inc tubs) isn't one of them.

I'v had a good look at the tyre today and found the hole. It is very small and i think it can be sorted with a bit of sealant.
Any recommendations on what sealant to use?

Got wet for the first time this morning, wasn't that bad. Got a DHB fleece lined jersey and it kept the rain out completely, hopefully the tights will be dry for the ride home at 5.

What else do you guys do diet and exercise wise? I'm thinking of getting some spinlock dumbells to complement the daily leg work. Already have a mat and pull up bar for other stuff. I'm not looking for bodybuilding just weight loss and keeping things even.

Hmmm, At the moment it's 170 miles a week on the bike, working up to 20km run on a weekend and I'm swimming 2km in the lake, but the season for that is going to end soon. I also go to a spin session each Tuesday.

Over winter I'm aiming to get to work earlier (still cycling) and do something like this:

Mon: Core
Tues: Spin
Wed: Upper body
Thurs: Row
Fri: Legs

Legs may take place on a different day, not decided yet.

I eat a lot, generally healthily but I eat what I like.

Ok commuters, I need some winter tyre recommendations.

For what conditions?

I'm currently using Schwalbe Durano S on the Cervelo and Durano Plus on the fixed. Both are 700x23 slicks but with very high levels of puncture protection (the Plus more than the S but they are considerably heavier).

Now I'm tempting fate, but I've had the S onfor three months without any visits from the P-fairy. The Pluses did the same for the fixed though Jan, Feb & March.

I use a pair of Maxxis Detonators. Only had them a couple of weeks and it's only rained once since but they seem good so far (and fairly cheap). Did a 40 mile ride yesterday though and rode nicely.

Had a slick on the back previously hence switching to these for the winter.

Rain and Ice. Basically some extremely grippy tyres, and as I have very thin wheels ones with an overall grip (rather than just on the narrow road contact bit) would be good.

Asprilla, how do you rate Ribble bikes (I seem to remember you have one)? I'm sorely tempted to get a Gran Fondo with a high spec groupset.

You get a lot for your money, an awful lot and the Gran Fondo is very highly rated.

The frames are made by Dedacciai who make frames for a lot of people so you can't really go wrong. The only thing I would say is that you shouldn't expect it to hold it's value when you come to sell it on, even with good kit onboard.

I bought mine second hand, although I have bought other items from them and always had quick delivery, but they do get bikes in batches and they sell out quickly which can lead to some long waits. Also, they aren't supposed to be great at answering the phone.

Going back to winter tyres; I'm looking to get some 700x35 Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres on the Civia for Dec - Feb; 240 carbide studs should help with the grip....

agreed - you get allot for your money and the frames are good - the big downside is the lead time on the bike builds and the total lack of customer support - they don't answer the phones (most of the time they divert to voice mail which tells you to e-mail or try a different day) and rarely answer e-mail.

The prices are really excellent at the moment, I can get a 3k full carbon frame with ultegra 6800 for a good price. I know the frames are good, whats the build quality like?

Shame they don't do SRAM.
