Cheers...I gave in and ordered one earlier actually. Looks like I chose the right one :)

I'm guessing that the turbo trainer tyre isn't foldable btw? Guess I'll have to sling it over my shoulder for the journey back...

edit: Puncture on my turbo (second that I've had, sigh) was caused by the rim tape having slipped. Joyous.

I've been killing it in shorts + base layer + fingerless gloves till now.. got MEH gloves ready when it gets cold, what would you guys recommend for winter riding(water proof not too thick)?

I need better gloves for _now_ kinda weather
when it's 8-12c so not cold enough for my "will it snow" gloves but also WAY too cold for the summer mits.
what does everyone else use?

Ok , what's the downside ?

They may not grip well - you find that with lots of the 'puncture protection'. Read peoples forum posts not really websites to get a good idea about tyres... 'Most people' you speak to (and websites you read) rave about Gatorskins - but it's not until reading about them you find they are no better than most of the others with protection and darn right dangerous to use in the wet weather!

Mitch pro4 end's here, are the SC any better for protection guys?

I must pick up another pro4 as I'm paranoid about killing mine on the turbo... Need a trainer tyre (but need a wheel and cassette too!) :o

I'm currently using these, picked them up in a Wiggle sale for £16 or so... They're actually really really good and I'm considering getting another pair!

The colder winds and wet they're ok, but once wet you'll get cold (no wind protection). I'll probably go for the DHB Windproof's if I need another pair before my Aldi windproof/waterproof/winter ones (doubtful). I think there is another DHB pair which are waterproof, yet currently not listed on Wiggle.

You could probably manually delete the dodgy entries from the .gpx file but you might find that screws things up even more.

What turbo is it you have again? Is it the Road Machine? Do you tighten it enough? When I first started I didn't pay attention to how tight the roller was and I got some strange results. One More Solo suggested to me to use the proper technique - i.e. tighten it until it's just touching the wheel and then turn it fully three times. Do the same each time you set it up. Also make sure your tyre PSI is the same every time.

Road Machine II... There was no instructions on how much to tighten the roller against the wheel so I judged how much it needs for grip without squashing the tyre too much. My PSI wasn't as high as previous times (didn't check it like I usually do as I was in a hurry to beat the rain!) and my rear wheel definitely felt a little 'squirmy' on my commute home tonight so defo needs some air. I'll follow that technique next weekend and will pump before & after (and tomorrow...) :)

I'm now paranoid about ruining my tyre quickly with the turbo so really need to source a wheel/tyre and cassette...

Anyone going to decathlon able to grab me one for £15? 700x23! I'll happily cover the postage and some beer money as no Decathlon near to me! :(

We still think sourcing a S/H wheel and buying a new cassette is the cheapest option? Or should I look at replacing my wheels (as mine are cheap rubbish).
