If you don't mind me asking, how much are these holidays to Majorca costing in total? Want to do a cycle trip this year and would like to do Alps or Pyrenees or some warm, sunny island with mountains.

£120 for my 6 nights in a hotel, won the rest through Team Sky :P

I'm going in March and I think it'll cost around £500 for 9 days. I'm going with my old club and taking the place of somebody who cancelled, so i'm a bit out of the loop on costs. I'm expecting around £500:
Flights - £180
Hotel (half board) - £180
Bike hire - £100
transfers - £20

+money to buy lunch and evening drinks each day. Should be around 700-800 total.

So it could be I have an even better value light than the rest of you! gonna double check there was no debit but looks like I had a win!

Nice work! I've got a package at the post office from yesterday, I'm guessing it's the light! Gonna go pick it up in the morning and need to sneak it past her indoors as I bought one from Amazon (and told her it was the sub light). I've had 2 magazines and will be cancelling the DD (they have not responded to any of my emails). Gonna check how much they've taken first to figure if I want another month before cancelling...

Light on Amazon cost me £31 so I'll be selling the sub light for the same price if anyone is after one! :p

The light I purchased on Amazon has survived a smack on tarmac with only a minor scuff (which was enough to crack a helmet) and I've been getting ~10 days of commuting out of it (around 7 hours) with it on high/low/Eco flash between charges. On flash/eco you would easily get 10+ hours use and I'm very happy with mine! :D

I've been in June/July for the last two years for a week. It has cost around £500 at an all inclusive hotel. Another 100 euros maybe for and eating out and drinks.

that is soooo tempting... all inc too! but hills, me on hills? I'd be crying in blood.

The weather/time of year really doesn't help with that either! It took me a couple of rides to get my confidence back. I guess it's confidence in our own abilities to notice danger and to take the correct road position rather than confidence in other drivers (which will take much longer to get back!).

We've had the shortest day and the mornings are getting lighter so visibility is getting better, hopefully we'll see a decrease in these kinda incidents!

Yea dark and cold didnt help the motivation for sure!
There was nothing i could have done in the incident, i wasnt even on the roundabout when he hit me, i'd exited by 5-10 yards!

Evenings will be ok but mornings will be dark for me for quite a while as i'm setting off at 6am. :(

Decided to get some new GP4000S for my 'wet/winter' bike today so bought some 23c from Ribble. Then decided to try the 25c i have on my best bike but the rear was a struggle to clear the Crud Roadracer mk2, bit of catching now and again....enough to audible and annoying!
So slapped a new 23c on the rear and keeping the front 25c as that clears fine and its done 100 miles only.
Not bad considering the GP4000S come up large (23c = 24/25mm and 25c=26/27mm in reality).

Wooooow scariest ride home today for this year soo windy and it's not only head on its side ways also with sudden gust. Had to hunch down a lot and be extra vigilant with road positioning today.

Anyone here using a Stages Cycling Power Meter?
I'm looking to buy the Shimano 5800 model when it becomes available in Feb and was wondering what people's views on the PM were?

With the high wind from west to east, tomorrow is the perfect time to get it back.
Probably why you lost it today, wind assisted :)

I did hear of problems with water ingress draining the battery but this may have been resolved on the newer models. I'd probably pick a stages over a set of Garmin pedals if this has been fixed mind.

Back on the bike Monday after three weeks off. Will have to get on the scales too, imagine put on half a stone and that's with paying some attention to what I've been eating!

Anyone else thinking of using this mega wind today to try and get some KOM's?

There are two short climbs on my 60 mile route which I'm going to attack, although with Winter fitness and bike setup it's not totally perfect. Hoping for top 10 at worst.

You're probably right. I'll wait for this small hangover to clear and then give it a go :)

There's a segment that I've been wanting to KOM for ages but annoyingly it's the wrong direction. I might see if there's anything else around after I try to take back my old KOM though.

My fitness level is okay at the moment as I'm mostly recovered from being ill and have kept on top of things a fair bit with turbo work. Fairly major squat DOMS though :/

Hm..someone just took a KOM off me that I'd had for a while (my favourite KOM actually). Going to go back over it tomorrow to get a feel for it. Perhaps I'll try to take it back but given the likelihood of wet leaves and such I'm not sure about the idea of really going for it.

It looks quite windey, what's the road surface like? Looks quite good although speeds look low considering it has no climb... It's a cycle path so I guess it depends on your luck on who else is on it at the time/how safe you are! It looks like it has many overhanging tree's so you may have some shelter from the wind - but there will be lots of debris around too! Do a recce first! :)

I'd love to have some cycle routes like that around here, closest I get is a nice bridge over part of the river with two 90 degree corners at the end! (it's not on Google streetview yet so can't show you!)

Have my sub light here now (picked up from post office).

Yeah.. It's the Fallowfield Loop. It's a really nice cycle path though the greenery does mean that it's often filled with wet leaves at this time of year.

Sadly my attempt to retake my KOM failed. I didn't even match my old fastest time :p My legs are just a bit too knackered today. Got a couple of top 10s though so it wasn't all doom and gloom.

More importantly I picked up some awesome coffee from Chorlton and pro meat from Heaton Chapel so I can bbq it up tonight/tomorrow.

I managed to find a garmin heart rate monitor on eBay for £18. Ordered yesterday, arrived today, not bad. I've given it a quick test. It paired ok with my edge 500 and registered 72bpm just stood there and 110bpm when I jumped up and down for a bit. It lost signal at the end, so I need to play with the strap and the position on my chest. I've not got a manual, but hopefully I can find one online. Any tips or things I need to know?

All being well I'm going to get out for an hour so tomorrow morning before church so I'll give it a bash then and see how it fares and how I fare. Assuming it works ok I'll then have to figure out somewhere I can do a max heart rate test. I need a decent long hill - I think Chorley Old Road in Bolton will probably do the trick.
