Anyone else here using Zwift (http://zwift.com/)? I applied to the Beta ages ago and finally got an invite last night.

Signed up earlier, look forward to giving it a go!

decided to get the turbo trainer out today

GCN - Hill Interval Training (45 mins)
https://app.strava.com/activities/244056950

Interesting ride and video, it looks very similar to one I've done before (same trainer class etc). Thanks, I might give this one a go later as it's not raining! (so that's me admitting to driving to work tomorrow again lol) :D

Jebus Chrisp! Remind me never to volunteer myself for something like that again, especially 20 mins after eating wedges, beans and pulled pork - I had to eat some of it again several times doing that session! :o

Thought i'd done some HIIT stuff before but nothing like that, seriously blew up twice on those fast end interval stands and had to back off and grind to stop myself wobbling/falling off the trainer. Had a nosebleed and everything! (Get them occasionally but not normally after exercise)

Do not attempt the above video on a whim!

yea at the end of your ride but you stayed between 90-100 which is good, I always aim for around 90

Yup. Very nice cadence graph, especially if it the first time Dunks has measured it. Very little dawdling along at half cadence and all that (which I used to do a lot of).

Looks pretty painful

My pizza-fuelled attempt tonight had similar issues. Really felt close to bringing the pizza back up at times :(

My thighs are still burning, not felt like this since I did some local hill practice back in the summer! I sense I may need to roll outta bed in the morning lol

Had a couple of emails from wiggle so looks like my 810 and other goodies are gonna be with me before el the weekend! :D

Anyone having any issues with rides not uploading to Strava via Garmin Connect? Can't seem to get my morning commute to appear in Strava

Edit: Strava now appears to be down

I've stayed in Port de Pollenca for the last two years. Ideal location for hills and flats. Although I've taken my own bike and have not had personal experience, the standard of hire bikes out there are excellent. Have a look at Pro cycle Hire for bikes in Pollenca.

Working at a University and cycling up Wilmslow Road every day (at least until I realised how much more pleasant cycling on pretty much *any* other road is) it was actually not an uncommon site to see unicyclists.

I wasn't aware that we had a Clown College department.

I'm going to ask what is possibly a stupid question. I've often thought of hiring a nice high spec road bike when on holiday for a fortnight to get some miles in on billiard smooth roads and cycle in stunning scenery in a lovely climate. We visit Tenerife quite often and there seem to be quite a few roadies around out there.

However, we spend time, money and effort on our own bikes getting them set up perfectly with the adjusting and replacing of stems, seatposts, bars, saddles etc until our bikes are 'just perfect'. It took me years to find my 'holy grail' of saddles - Specialized Alias 143. :D

So, here's my question - You go abroad and find a place hiring tasty road bikes. How do you get it set up so it allows you to do some half decent miles without you having to visit an osteopath afterwards? Do they do a quick 'bikefit' on you or just hire you the bike, give you a set of allen keys and let you get on with it? :p

:D

Someone with experience of hiring bikes would be able to help you out more so than me. But it is quite an important question. I know that you're expected to take your own shoes and pedals, but it has never occurred to me that the general fit may be way off. Stem length, bar width, saddle setback etc. I'd expect there to be some degree of adjustments available in store.

I used to unicycle to work years ago when I worked at Marconi, but I was only a mile or two from work. If you thought cycling to work was hard work, try it on one wheel! I did a Critical Mass on the unicycle once too, but even at the crawling pace they go at it's difficult to keep up on one wheel.

got him again! and there was me, thinking that commuting on two wheels was already dangerous in london lol.

Haha brilliant, is he riding with SPD's and track stands at the lights?! :D

I've never tried a unicycle.. how difficult is it to learn?

on that note..

what a penis

Idiot!

Isn't a 'D' in the middle of the numberplate like that from Ireland? The D designates the county?
