It's got canti mounts, so I'm fitting mini vs, which will be a bit weird. I'll let you know how it turns out next month...

If you haven't actually bought the frame yet, you can get a new Dolan Pre Cursa frame for that money or a really nice steel track frame. £200 puts you up in Reynolds 631 and 753 territory.

I've been keeping an eye out for a current vintage Pompino frame, but so far haven't seen one.

The Dolan FXE looks good, but I quite fancy a steel frame, to be honest. I've looked around for second hand steel frames, but I'm wary of buying second hand, and of difficulties in getting the right size.

why are you set on steel?

I'd like a steel frame too, but with disk mounts + carbon fork.. anything around? I'd love to build up a nice bike over summer :o
 
Looking for a single speed Grudas? There's a ton of steel frames with carbon forks and disc mounts but I'm not sure I've seen many SS/fixie specific ones (I'm sure others that enjoy cappuccinos more have though).

I just want to build something fun up, as a side project! and then get rid of my SS which is heavy as hell and triban 3 which needs new gearing etc.. and use that as a run-around without worrying that some dumbnut kicks the frame/fork (which has happened a few times outside the gym)
 
Just ordered the bits to get started on Trainer Road, went with the older Garmin GSC10 (cheap for Cadence/Speed!), Wahoo Tickr HRM and the Suunto - arrive tomorrow so hopefully clear some space in the garage and get going on it :)

Srsly, I'd like to try something different. I've two aluminium bikes, and I'll buy a carbon one at some point, for the lightness and so on, but I'd like to try steel and see how it feels and rides. This is as good a way as any to try it. If I like it I may buy a fancier steel frame in the future, but high end steel runs to silly money very quickly so I'm starting small... I'd toyed with the idea of getting a second hand 5 speed peugeot or something on ebay, but I want a single speed, so hey, 2 birds with 1 stone.

Lol ok it wasn't a bonk, more of a "I might have to stop for a breather (to strip off a layer) if I keep pushing this hard" moment! :eek:

I occasionally have them, kinda moments where if I continue the effort I know riding the next day is gonna be slow - as they're normally towards the end of a week. (Rule #5) ;)

Same setup as me (TICKR, GSC10 & Suunto) but GSC10 is on my road bike (S&C changed to the Decathlon on my trainer). What are you running TR on? My evening tonight will be troubleshooting why my Windows Vista laptop refuses to let TR connect... :rolleyes:

Not looking forward to this commute... Overheated earlier from being overdressed, still not 100% sure on my layers for this evening (temps are hinting at no need for normal layer under thermals?) but now it's damn raining too! Thermals and waterproofs? Normal layer and waterproofs?! Gah! It's been a few weeks since any rain and the warmer humid temperatures it can bring!

I've not been caught out as I'm kinda prepared for everything - it's the decision on what to do which bugs me! Roll on proper spring with the warmer temperatures! ;)
 
Random interaction with driver today who beeped me. I was taking a primary position in preparation for turning right on a nearly deserted country lane. Oncoming driver just beeped me, I think because he thought it was strange that I was in the middle of my lane.

My morning commute to work on the 3rd:

I added some comments while playing around with the Garmin software, sorry there is no sound/music. It's also double-speed as pretty mind numbingly boring watching it normal speed :p

Very quiet traffic wise, the commute home for about 1/4 of the video my mount slipped and it was pointing at the sky - not much point uploading it!

Recorded today's so may upload them on the weekend when I can be arsed to edit etc!

He was probably concerned you were going to pull infront of him and was just letting you know he was there?
